How to deblur an image.

Photos don’t always come out like you hoped. Learn how to remove blur from your images to create crisp, clear pictures every time.

What causes blur?

There are many different reasons that a picture might come out blurry:

No matter the reason, no photographer likes blurry pictures. That’s why there’s a “deblur image” function in most photo editing programs.

What is deblur?

Blur happens; it’s just a part of photography. Whether the picture is out of focus or there’s too much camera shake, blurry pictures can ruin any photoshoot.

Luckily, you can salvage many of your blurry photos with deblur.

“Deblur” is exactly what it sounds like — it’s the process of removing blur from images. When you import your pictures into a photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, the software can compare textures in the picture and recreate a sharper version of the image.

How to use deblur in photo editing.

Every photo editor is different, but most include a way to deblur images. In some, it’s actually called deblur, while others call it “sharpening.” In Lightroom, you can find the image sharpening adjustment in the detail panel. All you have to do is move the sliders to adjust the level of sharpness and deblur the image.

Since deblur is so easy to use in most photo editors, it gives photographers the freedom to shoot without worrying about the focus being perfect every time. Go out and snap some quick pictures — you can always adjust blurry photos later.
