How to pick the perfect wedding wish.
With about 2.5 million weddings per year in the U.S., we all know someone who’s getting married. Most of these wedding wishes for card interiors are perfect in their own right, but sometimes we need to tweak one for a special occasion.
Here are some best practices to send the right message, no matter the couple:
- Always include some form of “congratulations.”
- If you are invited to the ceremony or the party, be sure to thank the couple, too.
- It’s always nice to compliment the couple. How great are they together?
- Tired of seeing the same “wishful” vocabulary in every wedding greeting? Switch “wishing” out for “imagining,” “hoping,” “counting on,” or even “anticipating.”
Exercise: name the feeling.
If you’re still stuck on which wedding wish to pick, ask yourself: how do you feel about the upcoming nuptials? Are you happy about the wedding? Does it warm your heart? Or is it your boss’s kid and you don’t have much to say one way or the other?
Name your emotion, then scroll through these wedding wishes to look for the section that matches. That way, your wedding wish will be sincere.
Another method to get the right message is to start by writing “congratulations.” Get the pen (or fingertips) moving, and the rest will come easier.
When all else fails, keep it simple and go for a short wedding wish (before you need a belated one).
