Adobe Typekit is a font subscription service included with your Creative Cloud membership that gives you access to thousands of quality fonts that you can sync to your computer or use on a website. You can use these fonts to add typographic personality to all your web and print projects. And as a Creative Cloud member, your team has access to all of Typekit’s continually updated font libraries.

Using web fonts

To include Typekit fonts on a website you are designing, you create what is called a “kit,” add the fonts you want to include, and specify up to 10 domains that will use that kit. Typekit provides some code you add to your site, and you can then use your web fonts on the specified domains.

  • 1. Find fonts you want to use.

    Selecting web fonts is similar to syncing desktop fonts. Navigate to Typekit from the font listing in your application, select the Creative Cloud desktop app icon in your menu bar, or visit typekit.com and sign in. While searching for the font to use, be sure the Include web-only families box is checked so you see all the fonts available for the web.

    Click the font you want to add to your website to go to the family page. On the font family page, click the Add to kit button, then choose Create a new kit.

  • Give the kit a descriptive name, list the domains where you will be using the font, and then click on Continue.

    Typekit generates an embed code for your new kit. Copy the embed code and add it to the <head> tag in your website. This creates a link between your site and the kit you have created. Click Continue when you are done.
     
    You can add more fonts to your kit later. Search for a font and click Add to Kit and choose the kit name from the Add to an existing kit menu. You can continue to update the fonts used in your site as you refine your design.

  • 4. Update the kit settings.

    Once you have created your kit, you can refine the Kit Settings, choosing the appropriate Character Set and the Weights & Styles you’d like to use (italic, bold, etc.). Try to limit the weights and styles to those you actually need because too many fonts create a large Kit Size that can slow down page loading.     You can either add Selectors (h1, h2, p, etc.) in the kit settings or assign them in your own through CSS. When you are done, click the Publish button. The fonts will be available for use on your domain in just a few minutes. For more information on web fonts, read Add fonts to your website.
