Add sounds to your prototypes with a new action that lets you play sound effects and other audio files in response to triggers.
Add links to your prototypes with a new action that lets users jump to different points on the same artboard.
Shortcut for resizing area text to fit content
Double-click the bottom resize handle of an area text box to automatically adjust the height of the box to match the text inside.
Recipients of a privately shared link can now re-share with other reviewers while preserving read-only permissions.
Multiple actions on a Tap trigger
You can now add both a transitional action (e.g., Transition, Auto-Animate, and Overlay) and a non-transitional action (e.g., Audio Playback and Speech Playback) in response to a Tap trigger when prototyping in XD.
Now you can access XD design and prototyping features using dictation and voice commands.
Create heart shapes using the Polygon tool. Simply type “<3” in the Sides/Corners field and your polygon will turn into a heart.
Adobe Creative Cloud for enterprise customers can sync groups and distribution lists to XD from their organizations’ address books. Then they can select these groups when inviting editors to cloud documents or providing access to private shared links.
Publish All Artboards
Unset a Home artboard in Prototype mode to publish all the artboards on your canvas to a shared link, whether they’re wired together or not.
Add star shapes to your designs using the Polygon tool. Simply adjust the Star Ratio on the canvas or in the Property Inspector to draw anchor points and create your shape.
Drag-and-drop in XD Plugin APIs
Enhanced plugin APIs now let you drag assets from a plugin in the Plugins panel and drop them right on your design canvas. To add drag-and-drop support for your plugin, please see our developer documentation.
Quickly create common UI design elements without tedious manual work. In its initial release, Content-Aware Layout lets you control the padding of a group and preserve these values as the group’s layers change.
You can select a single artboard and publish it to a shared link in Share mode.
Collaborate in real time with other designers. Coediting lets you and your team work together in the same document at the same time, speeding up your workflow and eliminating duplicative or conflicting work.
Bring new levels of interactivity to your prototypes. Use the new hover trigger in Prototype mode to specify interactions for when a user places a cursor over a particular design element.
See the evolution of your documents over time. Document history lets you browse previously saved versions of a document, bookmark and name specific versions, and open a version in a new window to see changes.
Design for a variety of user inputs without duplicative work. In Prototype mode, you can now drag multiple wires from a single element to add interactions for different inputs. For example, add different actions for “tap” versus “drag” without having to duplicate artboards.
Get feedback, present your work, share with developers, and more. The new Share mode lets you keep shared links to your designs in sync, see which artboards and user flows are shared, and configure settings like password requirements.
Add interactive elements to your prototypes without unnecessary work. With component states, you can design variations of a component for different scenarios, like Hover or Pressed. You can also use states in Prototype mode.
Enhanced Creative Cloud Libraries integration
Work with assets in your Creative Cloud Libraries directly within XD. Now you can access and use assets from your Libraries, or upload assets from XD to your Libraries.
Redesigned Plugin Manager
Get even more value from XD with plugins. The redesigned Plugin Manager makes it easy to search and browse plugins, explore curated collections, see detailed profiles with screenshots and ratings, and install plugins to use in your workflow.
Enhance images and graphics in your designs with blend modes, which blend together a selected layer and a color using preset blending algorithms like Lighten or Multiply. Blend modes are also preserved when importing from other tools.
Nudge and resize keyboard shortcuts
Quickly move and resize objects using keyboard shortcuts. Precisely control the size and position of elements, or snap to a layout grid, using the arrow keys in combination with the Shift and Cmd keys.
Select through overlapping layers on the canvas
Using a simple keyboard modifier, select through all the layers under the cursor so you can access hidden or covered layers on the canvas.
Select covered layers in Design Specs
Easily select specific layers in a design even if they can’t be directly clicked. Now, right-click an artboard in a Design Spec and cycle through the complete list of layers.
Access your favorite plugins right in the XD interface. The Plugins panel puts a world of new capabilities and connections to other apps and services at your fingertips, without breaking your workflow.
CSS snippets in Design Specs
Design Specs now includes automatically-generated CSS code snippets that developers can copy and paste right into their code, so it’s easier than ever to bring your design vision to life.
Edit in Photoshop
Now you can open and edit images in Photoshop directly from XD. When you’re done editing, simply hit “Save” and images will be automatically updated in XD in real time.
Improvements to component bounds
Based on feedback from our community, we've changed how component bounds are defined and set to make resizing and aligning components easier.
Now you can share a single link with developers that includes both prototype interactions and design specs, saving your developers time as you better communicate your design intent.
Grid view in shared links
Quickly navigate a shared prototype or design spec links using the new grid view. Stakeholders can easily see all artboards in a project, or jump to a specific screen to view linked artboards or actual artboard content.
See when other designers are working on the same document to avoid conflicting edits and duplicative work. When you see your team member’s avatar in XD, it means they’ve opened the same doc.
Commenting on mobile
Stakeholders can now easily review and add comments to a shared web prototype, right from their mobile device.
