- Select the Remove tool.
To get started, click the Remove tool in the Photoshop toolbar. If you don’t see it, select and hold the Spot Healing Brush Tool to reveal more tools, then select the Remove Tool from the expanded list.
- Brush over objects to remove them.
Adjust the size of your brush in the tool options bar, then paint over an object to remove it.
Photoshop will use AI to automatically blend the area with matching content from the surrounding pixels, delivering a seamless result. This is one of the simplest ways to remove an unwanted object from a photo using AI.
- Automatically remove distractions like wires, cables and people.
Use Distraction Removal to detect and delete unwanted people, wires and cables.
- Select the Remove Tool, then click the Find Distractions drop-down menu in the tool options bar.
- Select either Wires and Cables or the People option.
- Wires and Cables: These are removed instantly and you’ll see your results momentarily.
- People: Photoshop will automatically select people in the image. Press Return to confirm and remove them, or refine the selection:
- Use the Plus (+) or Minus (−) icons in the toolbar to add or subtract from the selection.
- Brush over areas to make fine adjustments.
- Once satisfied, press Return to delete the selection and remove people from photos in seconds.
- Adjust how Photoshop uses AI during object removal.
Control how AI is applied during your edits with three mode options under the Mode drop-down menu in the options bar:
- Auto: Uses generative AI only when it delivers the best results.
- Always: Enables AI for every object removal action.
- Never: Disables AI, giving you full manual control.
