Sydney-based art director and photographer Elaine Li shares with us her creative journey, what inspires her, what she’s learned over the years, and all the ups and downs in between.

Elaine is an art director and photographer from Hong Kong, currently based in Sydney. She has created award-winning work in her advertising career, such as the Burnt Christmas Tree for Australian Red Cross, Finger Lickin' Good edible nail polish for KFC, and AirMax95 Collectables for Nike. She won Gold twice in the Cannes Young Lions Competition, representing Hong Kong in 2017, then Australia in 2019. She was also shortlisted in B&T 30 under 30, and has started mentoring young creatives in Australia's top ad school AWARD School.
Outside of advertising, Elaine is known for her cityscape, travel and street photography work which she shares on Instagram. With a 267k following, she has had the chance to work with a variety of brands as a social influencer, with photos featured in CNN, AJ+, Travel & Leisure. Elaine is regarded as Top 10 Instagrammers in Hong Kong. When she's not making ads or taking photos, she enjoys travelling and binge watching Netflix.
