This holiday season, we knew small businesses needed support more than ever, and we wanted to do what we could to help. That’s why Spark and Square teamed up to create The Holiday Small Business Boost.

We paired 3 small businesses with 3 local designers to help expand their digital footprints with next-level content and give them a boost for the holidays. But we wanted to do more!

We asked small businesses to tell us their stand-out stories and selected 5 winners to receive $10,000 each worth of social advertising. Meet the stand-out small businesses that will be starting the year with a boost, below!

Meet the Contest Winners

Sweet Treats Bakery in Lemoyne, PA is a family run bakery that works hard to make sure everyone in their community can enjoy dessert. Besides making delicious desserts for all sorts of occasions, Sweet Treats Bakery has created several keto-friendly options, allowing people who are diabetic or on restricted diets to find a little normalcy in their treats.

The Telegraph in New London, CT is so much more than a record store. Besides being purveyors of all things music, the Telegraph is a physical space for the vibrant music scene in New London to inhabit. They are currently working to raise funding for an outdoor concert series to lift their community’s spirits and highlight New London’s music scene.

Tigerbloom Creative was founded with the purpose of providing accessible resources for teaching Korean. Tigerboom’s founder was a new mom who wanted to share her Korean heritage with her child. When she saw a lack of teaching resources for children learning Korean, she worked hard to create an educational hub for Korean language and culture. Tigerboom is now publishing their first Korean-English children’s book and looks forward to providing solutions to families all over America.

Kids and Art in Burlingame, California offers healing art workshops to children with their cancer and their support teams. By providing meaningful art experiences to families in the Bay Area, Kids and Art is working to bring calmness and control in a time that is more stressful than ever before.

Auvreal Candle Co. is disrupting the candle industry by selling eco-friendly reusable candles with wax refills. By encouraging customers to reuse their candle vessels, and utilizing extremely clean ingredients, Auvreal Candle Co. is doing their part to help the environment while giving customers an awesome product they can feel good about using.

Communitē Table + DKNG

Communitē Table is a neighborhood restaurant and beloved mainstay in Oakland. The seasonal menu features fresh, well-made, affordable food that delivers on the owner’s dream of making family dinner time easier for the people in her community. See how Nathan and Dan of Bay Area’s own DKNG Studios gave Communitē Table’s marketing a much-deserved overhaul here.

Shambhala Yoga and Dance Center

Shambhala Yoga & Dance Center is a non-competitive, community-oriented, movement and wellness space. They’ve been a beloved Brooklyn mainstay for over 18 years by maintaining an intentional community with high-quality instruction, rooted in the philosophy of Hatha yoga. Explore how New York based designer Kalvinder Singh brought the power of their mission to their marketing here.

MudFire + Sarah Lawrence

MudFire is a Decatur, Georgia pottery studio, but more than that, it’s a community-focused home for makers. Whether visiting for a date night, searching for a handmade treasure, or crafting bespoke pieces, MudFire prides itself on being a diverse space that celebrates creativity.
