Customers can ask questions in documents and receive easy-to-understand answers with attribution. AI Assistant can help to generate a document summary and suggested questions based on the document to help customers explore, comprehend content and gain insights more effectively.
Using responses from AI Assistant, customers can consume info and create impactful content based on their document faster than ever — draught and share content for emails, presentations, meeting notes, research summaries and more.
Generative summary
With generative summary, customers automatically get an outline with headings and section-specific key points to help them to focus on what matters in a streamlined way — easily finding, discerning and navigating to essential information they need on-demand.

Acrobat Individual customers can access these features in Reader desktop and the Adobe Acrobat desktop application on both Windows and macOS, on the Acrobat web application and in their Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge extensions.
Acrobat Individual free and paid customers will receive a complimentary, limited number of AI Assistant “requests.” Customers will have the opportunity to purchase an add-on for their existing Acrobat plan for full use of AI Assistant.
AI Assistant is available in beta on mobile (iOS and Android) for Acrobat Mobile Premium, Plus and free signed in users. For these users the new AI Assistant features in mobile are available in beta, for a limited time at no additional charge.
The roll-out of AI Assistant to Teams & Enterprise customers will happen in a phased manner, starting with customers who have enabled the new Acrobat experience. We expect to roll out to all eligible Teams customers over the coming months. For instructions on how to enable the new Acrobat experience, please visit this link.
AI Assistant will be available in countries where Acrobat is currently available. Adobe products and services, including ones with AI Assistant for Acrobat, are not available in Belarus, China, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Syria, the Crimea Region of Ukraine and the so-called breakaway Luhansk People’s Republic and Donetsk People’s Republic located in Ukraine.
Currently, AI Assistant in Acrobat supports PDFs in English with plans to add additional languages in future releases. AI Assistant may inadvertently provide non-English responses, but these go beyond the intended purpose of the AI Assistant capability and should not be relied upon at present.
At present, this feature works for PDFs that meet certain criteria. It doesn’t yet support the following types of files:
- Files exceeding 25 MB in size
- Files that contain more than 120 pages
- Files with permissions that are configured in a way that prevents processing, such as being password-protected or having the “do not copy” permission enabled
- Files that are scanned PDF documents
- Files in a non-English language
Yes, a separate add-on plan for full access is available to new and existing Acrobat Individual customers. Acrobat Individual customers do not need to have an existing Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Standard plan to purchase. See the plans page for additional details.

AI Assistant features are available in beta on mobile for Acrobat Mobile Premium, Plus and free signed in users. For these users, the new AI Assistant features in mobile are available in beta for a limited time at no additional charge.
We encourage customers to provide feedback directly in the product. They can select the thumbs-up icon or thumbs-down icon to express their approval or disapproval with the generated responses. To provide more detailed feedback, customers should select “Thanks! Tell us more” or they can choose from the provided options to add a note and then select "Submit." Customers also can choose to share their document and its associated data associated with Adobe while providing more detailed feedback.
In the case of inappropriate content being generated, customers should press the flag icon to report it. Their document and the associated data will be escalated to the Adobe Trust & Safety team and other internal channels to investigate and address.
The new AI Assistant features were developed and deployed after undergoing review by the Adobe AI Ethics Review Board and have been designed to reflect Adobe’s AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility and transparency.
The short answer is no, except in limited circumstances such as when the customer chooses to share their data with us while providing detailed feedback or if they report content. Adobe and its service providers do not use Adobe customer content to train the large language models (ours or a third party’s) that deliver Acrobat’s generative AI capabilities. Learn more about how Adobe protects your documents and content using responsible practices.
Creating content that violates third-party copyright is prohibited. When using generative AI features in Acrobat, customers agree to only upload documents they have a legal right to use and they will not create, upload or share infringing content or content that violates our User Guidelines or the rights of others. They should seek independent legal counsel if they are unsure whether their content violates somebody else’s rights.
