Macromedia Contribute 3.11 and Contribute Publishing Server 1.11 Release Notes

About Contribute 3

Macromedia Contribute 3 redefines web publishing, making it an activity open to everybody, everyday. This release meets the full spectrum of needs for business users, web professionals, and IT decision makers. Contribute 3 lets everyone in an organization publish to websites and bring them alive with up-to-date information. Contribute 3 plus the new enterprise-ready, scalable Contribute Publishing Server, allows larger organization to easily deploy and manage hundreds of Contribute users across an organization.

About Contribute Publishing Server

Contribute Publishing Server (CPS) provide central management of website connections and integration with Active Directory and LDAP user directories. CPS also includes a new web services-based notification system that enables server-side extension development and powers the ability to log events and notify administrators when users create or edit pages on a website. Contribute Publishing Server works along with Contribute 3 and Studio 8.

About the Contribute 3.11 and Contribute Publishing Server 1.11 Updates

The Contribute 3.11 update contains a change to the activation/serialization process as well as a number of minor bug fixes. 

The change to Contribute's activation/serialization was implemented to support inclusion of Contribute as part of the Studio 8 bundle.  In order to support the Studio 8 serial number activation a change was required to the activation validation process.   This change allows Contribute 3.11 to be activated by a Studio 8 serial number or a stand alone Contribute serial number. 

As Contribute Publishing Server was formerly named Contribute Publishing Services, for this release, any references to “Contribute Publishing Services” in any materials and/or documentation, including without limitation in any applicable end user license agreements, shall mean Contribute Publishing Server.

These updates are considered minor and not consider crucial for most existing Contribute 3 users. 


About the Contribute 3.02 and Contribute Publishing Server 1.01 Updates

Contribute and Contribute Publishing Server have also been updated for all available international language versions.

The Contribute 3.02 update contains a change to the activation/ serialization/ installer process for international language versions of Contribute. The change to Contribute's activation/serialization/installer was implemented to support inclusion of Contribute as part of the Studio 8 international bundle as explained above.

Additionally, Contribute Publishing Services 1.0 was re-named Contribute Publishing Server 1.02 for all international languages. Contribute Publishing Server was formerly named Contribute Publishing Services, for this international language releases, any references to “Contribute Publishing Services” in any materials and/or documentation, including without limitation in any applicable end user license agreements, shall mean “Contribute Publishing Server”.

System Requirements

Starting with the Contribute 3 release, Contribute no longer supports Macintosh OS 10.1 or early versions of 10.2. For more information, see the Contribute system requirements on the Macromedia website.

Issues Resolved with the Contribute 3.11 English Update

CSS Improvements:
There was a problem with linked style sheets that were imported using site relative path not rendering in Edit mode. Additionally there was an issue supporting external CSS files that contained HTML. Both of these issues were fixed.

ADSD Uninstall Support:

There was an issue uninstalling Contribute when using Active Directory Software Deployment (ADSD). This issue was fixed.

Anchor Links:

Only in version 3.10, links with anchor were not added correctly and could not be selected. This issue was fixed.

WebDAV Support:

Remove Administration did not work correctly in a WebDAV connected site. This issue was fixed.

Known Issues

Contribute Installation

Beta users will need to uninstall all beta builds prior to upgrading to Contribute 3.11.

Contribute Activation

The Contribute 3.11 Updater will update your e-licensing component to the new standard for Studio. This will require re-activating with you serial number again when you launch CT after the update. Prior to installing, go to Help > About Contribute and capture your serial number.

How To do a Clean Uninstall of Contribute on Windows

From the Control Panel select Add/Remove product. Select Contribute to be removed. Click on the Change button. The Program Maintenance Dialog will be displayed. Select “Remove” option and then click Next.

In the “Remove the Program” Dialog select option "Remove Preference and Configuration files for all Users".
