The Adobe After Effects 7.0.1 update fixes a number of problems discovered after After Effects 7.0 was released.
The most significant fixes in the 7.0.1 release include the following:
An issue has been fixed where After Effects' application window could not be revealed after being hidden.
Contrast has been improved on trimmed layer bars compared to untrimmed portions when User Interface Brightness is darkened.
After Effects can now read IFF image files rendered out of mental ray for Maya.
Shift-clicking to draw vertices with the Pen tool now constrains to 45 degree angles.
Copy and paste of semitransparent text from Illustrator into After Effects has been fixed.
Layers no longer are inadvertently selected in the Timeline panel when moving the mouse quickly after clicking in an empty area to deselect all.
Selected layers that are hidden in Flowchart viewer no longer are deleted when other Flowchart viewer items are deleted.
Choosing Composition > Preview > Audio Preview (Work Area) will now play the whole work area.
Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 projects with DVD marker information no longer cause After Effects to crash.
An issue that caused a crash when exposing waveform for a precomposed audio track has been fixed.
In the Effects & Presets panel, Show Preset Contents and Show Referring Presets now default to off.
Collapsed guide layers no longer become visible when a noncollapsed guide layer is present.
The Camera Raw dialog box no longer shows when relinking a camera raw sequence.
An issue that caused 32-bpc visual discontinuity when animating opacity at very low values for very overbright images has been fixed.
Users can now import Blackmagic Design 8-bit YUV AVI compressed files.
An issue that caused incorrect pixel aspect ratio and dimensions when importing DVCProHD files captured in FCP5 has been fixed.
The Curves effect no longer clips to mask bounds when setting zero alpha to be non-zero.
Rendering errors in 32-bpc color depth with large iterations of the Box Blur effect have been fixed.
Interactivity of 8- and 16-bpc effects in 32-bpc projects has been improved.
Interactivity of feathered masks in large (2,000+ pixels wide) compositions has been improved.
Audio waveform no longer disappears when the window is resized.

Refer to the current system requirements for After Effects 7.0.
To install the After Effects 7.0.1 update:
1. Disable all virus protection software.
2. Quit all applications that are open.
3. Double-click the Adobe After Effects Update. application within the DMG file.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
This updater will update only the retail version of After Effects 7.0 software and not any prerelease (beta) versions. To confirm that the updater has run successfully, launch After Effects and verify that the version number on the splash screen shows 7.0.1 and not 7.0. If it does not show 7.0.1, you may not have a retail version. To purchase a retail version, contact your local Adobe retailer or visit the Adobe website.
