We developed the technology behind the extended depth-of-field feature released in Photoshop CS4, which allows users to combine a stack of photographs focused at different depths into an image that is in-focus everywhere. The feature is part of the "Auto-Blend Layers" feature in the edit menu, and can be used by clicking the "stack images" option.

This feature is based on research initially described in the “Photomontage” SIGGRAPH paper in 2004.
