Workflows (Services integration)

These preferences enable integration with Document Cloud services.

This preference category contains the following subfeature(s):

Services integration (DC)

These settings for DC products replace those used by 11.x and earlier. By default, Adobe online services are tightly integrated with the user interface so that users can leverage them in enterprise workflows. Adobe's services are rapidly evolving and allow your organization to increase its efficiency with zero infrastructure and management costs.

Synchronizer

The synchronizer manages the flow of data between the client, a local database, and Document Cloud. It is a client process that manifests on a machine as AdobeCollabSync.exe that runs as a background process if there are resources to synchronize. It performs bidirectional pushing and pulling of files between the client and a server and also allows clients on a local machine to connect, send commands, and receive notifications. This preference does not interact with email-based review and forms workflows.

bNeedSynchronizer Disables the synchronizer.
Supported on WindowsSupported on MacSupported by AcrobatSupported by Adobe Reader
Data type boolean: DWORD value > REG_DWORD
Default 1
Version # 9.0+
HKCU Path Workflows
HKLM Path Not lockable
Summary Disables the synchronizer.
Details Features that use the synchronizer include services, the Adobe Acrobat Trust List, shared reviews, Mobile Link, the recent files list (11.0.07+), and data collection in some forms workflows prior to 11.0.07. Disabling the Synchronizer is not recommended. Possible values include:
  • 0: Disable the synchronizer.
  • 1: Enable the synchronizer.
Note that Acrobat and Reader do not use the same synchronizer. When there is an older minor version of Acrobat or Reader and the newer minor version is 11.0.07-11.1.10:
  • Both Acrobat and Reader get the new synchronizer when updating to .07 or later.
  • If the newer synchronizer is running, it supports older services and non-services operations.
  • If the older synchronizer (pre 11.0.07) is running, sync-dependent operations do not work [3746864]

Services integration (11.x and earlier)

Summary Toggles access to certain Adobe services in Acrobat products (varies across versions) other than shared reviews and forms distribution.
Details For 9.x, behavior is as follows:
    • 0: Disable any Acrobat.com menu items from the user interface, including live collaboration, screen and file sharing, creating a Buzzword document, and uploading and and accessing files to Acrobat.com.
    • 1: Enable these Acrobat.com features and menu items.
For 10.x, the behavior is as follows:
    • 0: Disable any Acrobat.com startup menu items, Collaborate Live menu items in the Comment and Share panes; don't show Preferences > Online Services panel; remove the acrobat.com option in the Shared Review and Forms Distribution Wizards
    • 1: Enable these Acrobat.com features and menu items.
For 11.x, the behavior is as follows:
    • bEnableADCFileStore can be used to white list Acrobat.com file storage when bEnableAcrobatHS is set to 0.
    • bDisableADCFileStore can be used to black list Acrobat.com file storage when bEnableAcrobatHS is set to 1.
In 10.1.2, the online signing service option is removed from Reader's Sign Pane. In 10.1.8-10.0.10 and 11.0.05-11.0.07, this preference also removes EchoSign UI items from the right hand Sign Pane. It does not remove the Get Documents Signed items from the splash page and File menu (though those items no longer have access to the feature). This bug is fixed in 10.0.10 and 11.0.08.

11.0.09 change: In Reader, the Sign Pane is now called Fill and Sign and also contains the form's tools. This bEnableAcrobatHS service master switch disables all features of the Fill and Sign Pane except for the Work with Certificates accordion. When forms are opened, the Fill and Sign Pane does not auto open.

    Mobile Link

The Mobile Link feature enables a global recent files list so that files are accessible across a user's phone, tablet, desktop, and the web. When enabled, recently opened files are uploaded to Acrobat.com and the recent files list is synchronized across all devices. Mobile Link relies on the synchronizer to update the recent files lists and also requires access to Acrobat.com.

    Summary table
bToggleMobileLinkSync Toggles and locks Mobile Link off and on.
bUploadSettingOverride Controls whether recently opened files are automatically uploaded to Acrobat.com.
