So you started creating - with the drawing tools, but you need to make some changes, maybe.
Let's explore editing artwork you've drawn.
We'll use the Pen Tool, the Anchor Point Tool, and the Direct Selection Tool.
On the right, - you'll see the final artwork, and on the left is the artwork - you're going to edit.
To start, make sure Smart Guides - are turned on in the Properties panel here, they can make it easier to align content.
You'll start by editing this trailer - to make it big enough so you can haul a second donut.
You'll edit and add points - to the trailer shape using the Direct Selection and Pen Tools.
So select the Direct Selection Tool.
This tool is useful - for editing points and patterns.
Click in the trailer shape - and then zoom into it.
Now you'll select these two anchor points so you can make the trailer - a little bit longer.
Click on this anchor to select the other one, - press the Shift key and click.
Drag one of them to the left.
Now, as you drag, if you want to drag them straight, - press the Shift key when you get it where you need it release the mouse button and the key.
Now you're going to add a series of points - with the Pen Tool to reshape this part of the trailer, - so it looks like the front.
Select the Pen Tool.
With the Pen Tool, - you can obviously draw with it, but you can also do things - like add or delete points.
Move the pointer over the path here, - and when you see a + next to it, click and release - to add a new anchor point.
Go ahead and add three more points - to the path and they don't have to be - in the same spots as mine.
Now you move these points, so you'll switch - to the Direct Selection Tool.
To select the Direct Selection Tool - a little bit faster press the letter A in your keyboard.
That's actually the keyboard shortcut - for the Direct Selection Tool that you can see here.
Drag one of the points into position here and you should see Smart Guides show when it's aligned - with the anchor points over here.
Go ahead and drag - the other points into place.
To finish the trailer - you're going to move the wheel over.
So select the Selection Tool - and drag the wheel over here.
Once again, that Smart Guide alignment - should help you keep it aligned.
To make the shadow a little bit wider go ahead and select it - and drag it from the corner.
With the trailer finished now you'll edit the car - to make it into a truck.
You're going to use different tools - and options to edit the shape, including some other keyboard commands.
So take your time in this section.
You'll start by changing the windows.
So select this window - and go ahead and remove it by pressing Backspace to delete.
Then drag this window to the right and make it a bit wider as well.
Now click to select the car shape - and zoom into it if you want.
Then so you can see the anchor points - that make up the shape go ahead and select - the Direct Selection Tool.
Now the back of the truck - needs to be square, so what you're going to do - is make these curved paths into straight lines.
You'll do that - by clicking this point first.
You can see the direction lines - controlling the curve of the path there.
To make it a corner, you're going to remove - those direction lines.
In the Toolbar, select this Anchor Point Tool - that's found under the Pen Tool.
This tool is for removing direction lines - from a point or even adding them - by dragging away from the point.
Click the point to remove the handles - so the path there is no longer curved.
Now you do the same thing to this point, so the paths - are straight coming from the point.
To drag this point, - select the Direct Selection Tool again and drag it - so it aligns with the point in the back.
As long as we're dragging points, let's drag the point - at the top of the truck here so it'll better align with the windshield.
Now this part of the truck shape - needs some help.
It would look better - if the roof was more rounded and there was a truck bed like this.
To do that, - we need to add a point to the path and curve the path at this point instead of it being a corner.
So to add a point, you'll use the Pen Tool - like you did on the trailer.
To select the Pen Tool, press the letter P in your keyboard, - or you can select it in the Toolbar, move the pointer over the path - and when a + appears, click to add a point.
Now, to get the points into position, switch to the Direct Selection Tool by pressing the letter A, then drag one down here and the other here to follow the contour - of the window better.
Like I said, this path needs to be curved, - not a corner to look better.
To do that, - select the Anchor Point Tool again.
Last time you clicked the point - to remove direction lines, but this time you're going - to add direction lines and make it a curve.
So drag from the point.
When the curve looks pretty good, - go ahead and release.
I might want to move this point down, - so switch to the Direct Selection Tool by pressing the letter A - and go ahead and drag it where you want.
Let's simplify the front of the truck.
You're going to make everything - up here in the corners then you're going - to drag one of the points, so the front looks like this.
Now this point needs to be a corner - and not curved.
So to convert it to a corner, - select the Anchor Point Tool, click the point to remove the handles - so the path there is no longer curved.
You see how these points - actually have direction lines and the paths here and here are curved?
Let's remove the direction lines - for these points as well so that we have nothing - but corners up here.
Click on this point and then this point.
To reshape the front of the truck you're going to drag this point - with the Direct Selection Tool.
So you can press the letter A - to select the tool and drag to reshape the front.
You did it!
You completely transformed this car - into a truck that hauls two donuts instead of one.
Yes, you do switch tools a lot as well and as you progress, - you'll also discover more about keyboard commands you can use - with the Pen Tool to make drawing and editing faster.
If you want to continue exploring, - try changing these donut shapes, maybe make the pink icing - cover more of the donut. -
