The generative AI essentials.
The term generative AI describes all artificial intelligence that creates new content based on patterns it learns from data. That data could include images, text, music, video, computer code, or other content. Generative AI models use that data to generate something new.
AI art generators like Firefly turn word prompts into images. With these tools, professional artists and designers can quickly brainstorm, test new ideas, and build mood boards. And everybody, even if they're not a professional, can generate images for social media, marketing materials, presentations, or just for fun.

How Firefly differs from NightCafe.
While most generative AI tools offer a single function, like turning text into images, Firefly includes several generative AI features. The Firefly web app is a great NightCafe alternative because you can use it to generate images, but you also get specific modules for generating text effects and new color palettes. And you can use the Generative Fill feature to remove or add objects in your images.
In addition to the web app, Firefly generative AI is also embedded inside other Adobe creative apps so artists and designers can incorporate it into their workflows. If you use Adobe Photoshop, you can use Generative Fill and Generative Expand to add new objects to images or extend the canvas with new content that seamlessly blends with your original image.

How Firefly maintains Adobe’s commitment to the creative community.
Adobe developed the Firefly family of generative AI models with creators in mind and in keeping with the Adobe AI ethics principles of accountability, responsibility, and transparency.
Our initial commercial Firefly model is trained on licensed content, such as Adobe Stock, and public domain content where copyright has expired. We’ve developed a compensation model for Adobe Stock contributors whose content is used in the dataset to train Firefly models. Firefly does not train on Adobe Creative Cloud customers’ personal content.
Firefly is designed to be commercially safe, so individuals and enterprise creative teams alike can explore different uses for the content they generate.
The best way to learn about Firefly is by exploring it on your own. Start generating images for free in the web app and discover all you can create.
