Accessibility
Adobe Digital Editions integrates with operating system accessibility features, including high contrast, and voice reading software, as follows:
· NVDA is a free and open source screen reader for Windows.
· JAWS for Windows Screen Reading Software; you can continuously read a book from its beginning to the end with JAWS.
· Window-Eyes screen reading software for Windows; support provided via GW Micro’s App Central.
· Apple VoiceOver; screen reading software for Mac.
Library Migration from Adobe Digital Editions 1.7
If you installed Adobe Digital Editions 1.7 and added books to its library, you'll be asked if you want to migrate version 1.7 managed books to version 2.0 during installation. If you choose to do so, those books will be added to the library of Adobe Digital Editions 2.0. Otherwise, you'll have to manually add those books to the library of Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 later.
Powerful Markup
Add bookmarks to PDF or EPUB documents so that you can quickly navigate around a document. You can also highlight text and add comments for future reference within your digital publications.
Borrowing eBooks
Borrow eBooks from many public libraries for use with Digital Editions. Downloading digital publications from libraries is very similar to buying eBooks online except for the payment process.
File organization
Organize your digital publications and manage devices in the convenient Library View. Sort by title, author, and publisher, and view the covers of your favorite eBooks. You can also create custom bookshelves to further organize and manage your content.
Device Support
Load eBooks from/to USB-connected eReader hardware.
With Adobe Digital Editions open on your computer your eReader will appear in the library, and you can drag and drop eBooks to the device. See “Transferring eBooks from / to a supported eReader” in the Getting Started eBook installed with Adobe Digital Editions.
Custom User ID (Vendor ID, Bookseller ID)
When you open a book requiring alternate authentication, you will be prompted to select which ID and provide credentials (user name and password). You may, for example access a book from Google with a Google ID (referred to as a Vendor ID), or a book from Barnes & Noble (referred to as Bookseller ID). This is further described in the Getting Started eBook installed with Adobe Digital Editions.
Printing
Adobe Digital Editions supports printing of eBooks. The application maintains fidelity with what you see on screen. Note that publishers may restrict printing (the Item Info dialog shows printing, copying, and viewing permissions).
Multilingual Support
Adobe Digital Editions is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional versions and can display content in a wide range of languages.
