What you’ll learn

Organize your Illustrator project

Using named layers when you prepare your vector file for animation makes working in After Effects simpler. Group objects onto layers based on how you want them to animate, and rename your layers so they’re easy to identify.

Import your vector artwork

Choose the composition option when importing an Illustrator file so your layers stay the same in your After Effects project. Edit the original artwork in Illustrator and watch it automatically update in After Effects.

Keep vectors sharp using SVGs

Turn on continuously rasterize so scaled artwork stays crisp. Import SVG files as flat footage or as editable shapes, depending on your needs.
