Produce vintage film looks

It's very popular in music videos today to apply a vintage film look to HD or 4K modern footage.

So let's take a look here in Rush, how we can transform this shot into a film-like or vintage look.

So let's go ahead and hit pause.

And let's go over to the color tab on the right.

And from here, from the presets we can choose the Film preset and immediately by using the toggle, you can see the before and after.

You can also increase the intensity of the film look, by moving it to the right and now it looks even more like a film-style look.

You can also go to the Edit tab to make further changes.

So if you want the temperature to be more warm, you can move it to the right, or you can move it to the left to make it more cool.

I'm going to move it to the right to make it more warm.

And then for the tint you can make it more green, or more pink to make more of a pinkish film color, depending on what you're going for.

So I'll make mine a little bit more green looking, I think that looks good.

And then another thing you can do to make it look older is adjusting the sharpening because 4K and HD is very sharp, we can reduce the sharpening to around minus 13 to make it less in focus, that way it looks older.

Lastly underneath Advanced we can increase a vignette around the edges, like so by moving it to the left.

You can add some feathering by moving it to the right depending on what you're going for.

So now the color before and after.

It's starting to look a lot more vintage.

And as a bonus tip, a lot of editors will now scale down the footage and add some feathering around the borders to make it look like it was being projected.

So the way you can do that is go to the Crop and Rotate menu here on the right and you can scale down the image like so by moving the slider to the left.

And you can also add edge feathering underneath Appearance.

So I can increase the edge feather until it looks like it's being projected.

So now, just like that, I can even play.

We can see from the color, the before and the after.

And that's how you can make modern footage look more vintage inside of Rush.
