Refresh your brand with seasonal illustrations

Have you ever been creatively stuck and needed a little help?

With Adobe Illustrator and Generative Shape Fill you'll be able to visually ideate quickly.

Hi, my name is Carra Sykes.

I'm an Illustrator, Designer, and Creative Director.

In this video, I'm going to show you how I use Adobe's Generative Shape Fill to visually ideate quicker and finalize in my own style.

I'm working on some spring illustrations for a children's clothing brand.

Using generative shape fill for visual ideation

Here I have the two brand shapes that I want to fill with seasonal elements.

I have an idea of what I want to fill them with, but I'm having trouble visualizing how the elements can fill these two very different shapes.

Selecting the two shapes, I'll click on the Contextual Task Bar where it says Gen Shape Fill and then I'll click on Settings.

This is where I'll type my first prompt, fill the shapes with symmetrical spring flowers and geometric leaves, simple and symmetrical layout.

I'll keep the Shapes Strength High, Detail Maximum with a Flat Design effect, and then I'll click Generate.

Once I'm drawn to a generated illustration like these,

Curating and comparing generated references

I'll start gathering my favorite imagery from each prompt, so I'll be able to reference them while refining in the brand style.

I'll continue exploring prompts and styles until there are enough reference images.

Now that I have my selected imagery, I've circled my favorites, and I really like how the sun has turned out.

Using these two images as inspiration, I was able to refine and create the seasonal sun in the brand style.

Refining illustrations with style references

Now that we have the sun finished, let's work on the raindrop.

This time I'm going to reference the style of the sun illustration I just created.

I'll click on Choose asset and select the illustration.

Then I'll update my prompt to symmetrical bee surrounded by flowers.

I'll continue exploring prompts with the Style Reference on.

And then I want to explore without the Style Reference like I did before with the sun.

I'm getting some beautiful images to reference when I start building it out in the brand style.

I'll continue exploring and playing with prompts and styles and curate my favorites.

From there, I'll use these as visual inspiration for the final illustration.

And here they are side-by-side.

I'm going to mockup these up and share them with the client.
