Invented by Adobe Systems and continuously improved over 15 years, Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) lets users capture and view robust information — from any application, on any computer system — and share it with anyone around the world. Over 500 million copies of the desktop version of Adobe Reader® software have been downloaded worldwide; individuals, businesses, and government agencies everywhere trust and rely on Adobe PDF to communicate their ideas and vision.
Adobe Reader LE extends Adobe PDF software to mobile phones and consumer electronics devices. Mobile users can now reliably view rich, high-impact, more secure content on a variety of devices, including handsets from Nokia, NTT DoCoMo and other leading manufacturers, car navigation systems, printers, eBook devices, and more.
Adobe Reader LE is licensed by leading mobile phone and consumer electronics manufacturers for preinstallation on the devices. The software development kit (SDK) contains a set of C++ application programming interfaces (APIs), full source code, sample application, and documentation, along with a testing and verification framework. Developers can use this SDK to build PDF viewing applications optimized for mobile devices.
Mobile phone or consumer electronics device manufacturers interested in licensing the Adobe Reader LE SDK for preinstallation should fill out the License Request Form. The Adobe Reader LE SDK includes reference implementation on Symbian OS and Windows® XP. OEMs have also successfully ported Reader LE to Linux® and Windows Mobile®.
