There are various ways to add items to Adobe Media Encoder Queue.
The most common way is to go to File and then choose Add Source...
Add After Effects Composition... or Add Premiere Pro Sequence...
Another quick way is to click on this plus sign and browse to the file you want to transcode.
By default, Media Encoder will apply the last preset used to the newly added item.
If you want to change that, you can use the Preset Browser to find a preset you need.
Since the Media Encoder is also the renderer for Premiere Pro and After Effects, you can add items to the queue from those applications as well.
For instance, if I go to Premiere Pro and I select the sequence that I'm working on, I can go to File, Export, Media..., choose a preset that I want to use and now I can hit Queue to add it to Media Encoder Queue, allowing me to continue working inside Premiere Pro.
The same story goes for After Effects.
So, if I go to After Effects and I select a composition that I'm working on I can go to Composition, Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue..., so I can continue working inside After Effects.
So, I click on this now and you'll see that I can continue working here and if I go back to Media Encoder, it will be added there ready to be encoded.
Actually, you can even skip a step.
If I go back to Premiere Pro, and if I go to the sequences that I already made and I make some room here, I can actually select those sequences and drag and drop them directly into the queue.
The same goes for After Effects.
So, if I go to After Effects - let's make some room - select the compositions that I want to add to the queue, and drag them in.
Again, if I want to change the preset that's there, I select one of the presets here or I can choose this dropdown and choose the presets from here.
The last thing I want to show you is if you're inside Premiere Pro and you're using a lot of footage and you want that footage to be exported individually.
I have a few clips here and I want to export these to YouTube for my clients to review.
Unfortunately, you cannot drag and drop footage items from Premiere Pro into the queue, but if I select them and go to File, Export, Media..., I can now choose a setting, for instance let's try the YouTube one again and I can hit Queue and those four clips will now be added to the queue ready to be encoded.
