“The
goal was to create a fresh and exciting website that reflects
the department.” Ranop Subhawong
Our first place winner, Ranop Subhawong
redesigned the Art Department website for Austin Peay State
University. His use of distinctive colors added organizational
clarity and visual punch. The consistent navigation system
along the page bottom enables intuitive travel through the
site. Sliding panels and pop-up windows within sections
provide plenty of room for content and readable text. The
panel and pop-up movement is purposeful and elegant.

“Ectovision
is a website featuring my drawings, illustrations, photographs,
and other things I do for fun.” Dan Day
Dan Day’s Flash site serves as a portfolio
for his photography, illustration and design as well as
an outlet for his philosophy on these subjects. The site
is quirky, with comic elements, but its main purpose is
to showcase Dan's work. The photography is exceptionally
striking. The navigation system slides out horizontally
from a unique menu structure. The technical design respects
user needs and the navigation design allows users to access
many different sets of information from the same window,
without loading and re-loading pages.
