Rob began his career as a visual journalist at New Jersey's Asbury Park Press and went on to be the informational graphics editor at The Star-Ledger in Newark. Adobe® Photoshop® and Adobe Illustrator® were among his primary communication tools. He believes the best communication is achieved with the right mix of word and image often an elusive goal. Now he writes about astronomy and space science, and of course the imagery used to bring the cosmos alive.
"In no field of science is the photography as striking and telling as in astronomy," he says. "Where photographs can't be made, artist impressions and graphics often tell the story most efficiently. Words, while dear to me, sometimes take a comfortable back seat."
Rob has been a guest on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS, The Flip Side on CNNfn, and radio stations from Los Angeles to Dallas to Montreal. His stories also appear regularly on MSNBC.com, CNN.com, USAToday.com and Yahoo. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and children.
