eLearning - Manifest Maker Extension for Dreamweaver MX

The Manifest Maker Extension for Dreamweaver MX uses Dreamweaver's Site Definition to create an XML manifest file that complies with the Instructional Management Systems Global Learning Consortium (IMS) specifications. The manifest file describes all the resources needed to transfer a course to a learning management system, and identifies the titles and URLs of the component lessons for the course syllabus.

Benefits

Dreamweaver Site Definition as Basis for the Manifest
Allows users to easily manage all of the pages associated with multiple lessons, and uses Site Definition to create the manifest with meaningful defaults.

Streamlines manifest development by reusing information already kept by Dreamweaver, and reduces errors caused by manually entering manifest information.

Editable Meta-Data
Simple form fields allow developers to customize the manifest ID and enter a course title, description, and key words.

Manifests generated with the Manifest Maker extension can include optional meta-data, such as a description and keywords, to make manifests self-documenting and more usable.

Automatic Selection of HTML Pages for Table of Contents Entries (Manifest Maker+ Only)
Manifest Maker automatically selects all of the HTML pages by default and includes them in both the resource and Table of Contents section of the manifest.

Using an advanced tree control, the user can easily deselect pages to control what is included in the table of contents and written to the manifest XML file.

XML support files from the IMS are included with the extension and can automatically be copied to the site being edited, in order to facilitate editing and validation of the manifest as an XML document.

Manifest Maker includes DTD, XML data reduction (XDR), and extensible style sheet (XSL) files associated with the IMS content packaging specification. These files can be automatically copied from the extension folder and added to the site being edited.
