Tips to put respect quotes to the best use.
Have you considered what the right respect quote could mean for a friend on a new coffee mug, or what a wall decal with a quote could do for the kids at Grandma’s house?
Think about all the places where respect quotes can inspire and inform:
- Custom gifts, like tote bags or coffee mugs, to switch up your gift-giving.
- Stickers for kids, or larger-format stickers for notebooks and laptops.
- Bookmarks to leave in books at the library to surprise and inspire future readers.
- Greeting cards or letters to uplift people you know.
- Social media banners or desktop backgrounds for constant inspiration.
- Wall decals or posters for classrooms, work, or other shared environments.
Exercise: what respect is and isn’t.
Respect has close ties with many other virtues. Specifically, it overlaps with:
- Patience
- Empathy
- Honor
- Good manners
- Appreciation
- Recognition
While they do overlap, these virtues aren’t all the same. With this exercise, you can see how they compare and contrast.
1. Draw a circle in the middle of a piece of paper and label it “respect.”
2. Then, one by one, draw six more overlapping circles, pausing to think about each one before you decide where to put it. Each circle represents one of the virtues above. Draw each circle with as much overlap as you think it should have with one or more of the previous circles, every time based on how “similar” or “different” you think each virtue is from the others.
3. Make sure all your circles are labeled.
4. Look at your diagram. Think about which of these virtues is easiest or hardest for you, and how the overlap with other virtues could help you improve.
