Adobe Photoshop Touch
What is Adobe® Photoshop® Touch and what does it do?

Adobe Photoshop Touch lets you transform images using core Photoshop features designed for a tablet, as well as new capabilities specifically tailored for mobile creativity and social networking. With Photoshop Touch, you can:

  • Create new images by combining photos, making popular edits, and applying professional effects
  • Quickly find images, share your creations, and view comments — all from within the app, thanks to integration with Facebook and Google1
  • Access interactive tutorials that can help you quickly achieve great-looking results
  • Sync projects to Adobe Creative Cloud™ and open layered files from Adobe Photoshop Touch in Photoshop.2
Is Photoshop Touch right for me?

Photoshop Touch is right for anyone — amateur, enthusiast, or professional — who wants to edit photos on a tablet. Photoshop Touch lets you quickly combine images, apply professional effects, and share the results with friends and family through Facebook and more — all from the convenience of your tablet.1 If you are a more advanced user, you can take your projects even further in Photoshop.

Will Photoshop Touch work on my iPhone or Android™ phone? What about iPad?

Photoshop Touch was designed to work on tablets only. Photoshop Touch works on iPad 2 or later or Android tablets running version 3.1 or higher. It is not available for iPad (first generation).

What is the difference between Photoshop Touch and Photoshop Express?

Photoshop Touch provides more power and flexibility for editing your photos, with core Photoshop features designed for a tablet, as well as new capabilities specifically tailored for mobile creativity and social networking. It offers a more robust set of tools than Adobe Photoshop Express software for creating mind-blowing images.

Photoshop Express provides a more basic set of functionality like cropping, rotating, adjusting color, and adding artistic effects. It is great if you desire lighter photo editing capabilities on the go for phone or tablet in order to quickly prepare images for sharing with friends or family.

How can I buy Photoshop Touch?

Photoshop Touch for iOS is available for download on the iTunes App Store.

You can buy Photoshop Touch for Android compatible tablet devices on Google Play. Download now.

How can I use Photoshop Touch with Adobe Creative Suite®?

You can work with images on your tablet and then take them further on your PC or Mac in Adobe Photoshop. You can move your files between tablet and computer by using Adobe Creative Cloud to open layered files from Photoshop Touch in Photoshop. This requires a downloadable plug-in for Photoshop CS5 and later. You can also open Photoshop (PSD) files in Photoshop Touch; however, all image layers will be flattened into a single layer.

Do I have to be a Photoshop user to take advantage of Photoshop Touch?

No. Photoshop Touch and Photoshop complement each other nicely, but you can use either independently of the other.

How can I use Photoshop Touch with Adobe Creative Cloud?

Work with images on your tablet and then take them further on your PC or Mac in Adobe Photoshop. Sync projects to Adobe Creative Cloud and open layered files from Adobe Photoshop Touch in Photoshop.2 You can also open native Photoshop (PSD) files in Photoshop Touch; however, image layers will be flattened into a single layer. Adobe constantly evaluates potential new features. If accessing multiple PSD layers in Adobe Photoshop Touch is important to you, provide feedback in the Adobe Photoshop Touch user forum.

What are the system requirements for Photoshop Touch?

Adobe Photoshop Touch for iOS requires an iPad 2 or later and iOS 5.  The Android version requires a tablet running Android 3.1 or higher, an 8.9-inch display or larger, and a minimum screen resolution of 1280x800. An Internet connection is required to sync files with Adobe Creative Cloud.

In what languages is Photoshop Touch available?

Photoshop Touch is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.

Can I buy Photoshop Touch in my country?

Check the iTunes App Store in your country for availability for iOS devices. For Android devices, Photoshop Touch is available in most countries supported by Google Play.

How much does Photoshop Touch cost?

Each Adobe Touch App costs US$9.99. Check Google Play or the iTunes App Store in your country for pricing in your local currency.

Where can I find more information about Photoshop Touch?

You can learn more about Photoshop Touch at these web pages:

  • Visit the Adobe Photoshop Touch product page.
  • Find videos of all Adobe Touch Apps on Adobe TV.
  • Visit the Photoshop Touch page on Photoshop.com.
What is the relationship between Photoshop Touch and Photoshop?

Photoshop Touch contains some of the core Photoshop features that Photoshop users know and love, plus some new capabilities that apply best to working on a connected tablet. With a Photoshop compatible file format, users can start brainstorming and creating work in Photoshop Touch and then access that work via Adobe Creative Cloud in Photoshop on a Mac or PC for further refinement. This workflow requires a downloadable plug-in for Photoshop CS5 and later.

What's the difference between the new Photoshop Touch App and the previously announced Adobe Photoshop Touch Apps and Photoshop Touch SDK?

Photoshop Touch is now the brand name of a new mobile application from Adobe that lets you quickly combine images, apply professional effects, share the results with friends and family through sites like Facebook, and more — all from the convenience of your tablet.1 Adobe Eazel for Photoshop, Adobe Nav for Photoshop, and Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop are now referred to as Adobe Photoshop companion apps.2 The Photoshop Touch software development kit (SDK) has been rolled into the Photoshop SDK as connection APIs, so now developers can access all the Photoshop APIs from one SDK.

Whether from Adobe or from third-party developers, Photoshop companion apps utilizing the Photoshop SDK are able to establish a wireless connection with Photoshop CS5 and later on the desktop to extend Photoshop capabilities in ways never before possible. Adobe Eazel for Photoshop allows users to create beautiful paintings on iPad and instantly access them in Photoshop CS5 and later. Adobe Nav for Photoshop lets users instantly transfer images from iPad directly to Photoshop and use iPad to browse and select open Photoshop documents and activate Photoshop tools. And Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop is used to mix custom colors on iPad and immediately use them in Photoshop.

What does Adobe now call the collection of previously released Photoshop Touch Apps and the Photoshop Touch SDK?

Adobe Eazel for Photoshop, Adobe Nav for Photoshop, and Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop are now referred to as Photoshop companion apps. Adobe has rolled the Photoshop connection API into the Photoshop SDK to make access easier for developers.

Does this rebranding of the Photoshop companion apps signal that Adobe is divesting the Photoshop companion apps or supporting APIs?

No. Adobe will continue to support our developer community working on extending the capabilities of Photoshop through plug-ins and companion apps. Photoshop companion apps and the Photoshop SDK are another important extension to Photoshop workflows for Adobe customers.

Does Photoshop Touch take advantage of the Photoshop SDK to transfer files?

No. Photoshop Touch leverages the new Adobe Creative Cloud (announced at Adobe MAX 2011) to sync files with your desktop for further refinement in Photoshop on your Mac or PC.

Where can I go for more information about the Photoshop companion apps and SDK?

Learn more about the Photoshop companion apps at the Mobile & Tablet Apps page on Photoshop.com or at the Adobe mobile apps page on Adobe.com. Learn more about the Photoshop SDK at the Photoshop Developer Center.

How secure is Creative Cloud?

Adobe uses industry-leading security engineering processes in building its products. With Creative Cloud, security is considered at every level, from applications to networks to physical facilities. In addition to the latest technologies, world-class security requires ongoing adherence to best-practice policies.

What security is used at the application level?

Adobe Creative Cloud uses some of the latest technology available for Internet security. When you access a service, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology is used for both server authentication and data encryption, helping to ensure that your data and documents are available only to you and the users you authorize. The service issues a session cookie only to record authentication information for the duration of a specific session. The session cookie does not include the username (Adobe ID) or password of the user.

What network-level security is used?

Creative Cloud leverages firewall protection, intrusion detection systems, SSL encryption, and proprietary protocols to protect your important information. The services are hosted in a protected server environment that uses a firewall and other advanced technology to help prevent interference or access from outside intruders.

What physical security is in place for the servers that host Creative Cloud?

Services hosting facilities are protected by multiple layers of physical security, and only authorized personnel may access the facilities and servers. In addition, all facility access is logged, and logs are regularly reviewed and protected from outside access. All data center equipment has physical protections in place against data theft and environmental hazards in order to prevent assets from being lost, damaged, or compromised and to prevent interruption in business activities.
