Menyraden (högst upp) visar Arkiv, Redigera och övriga menyer som ger tillgång till olika kommandon, justeringar och paneler.
Verktygspanelen (till vänster) innehåller verktyg för redigering och framtagning av grafik. Liknande verktyg är grupperade tillsammans. Du får åtkomst till dem genom att klicka och hålla ned ett verktyg på panelen Verktyg.
Panelerna (till höger) innefattar Egenskaper, Lager och andra paneler som innehåller ett antal olika kontroller för att arbeta med teckningar. Du hittar en fullständig lista över paneler på menyn Fönster.
Dokumentfönstret (i mitten) visar den fil du arbetar med för närvarande. Flera öppna dokument visas som flikar i fönstret Dokument.

Med zoomverktyget som finns på panelen Verktyg kan du visa mer information om ett dokument. Om du vill växla från Zooma in till Zooma ut trycker du på Alt (Windows) eller Option (macOS).
Med Handverktyget, som du hittar genom att klicka och hålla ned Zoomverktyget på verktygspanelen, kan du panorera i ett dokument.

Skapa ett nytt dokument

Startskärmen visas när det inte finns några öppna dokument för tillfället i Illustrator. En lista över senaste filer, undervisningsmaterial och förinställningar visas. Du kan även få åtkomst till olika resurser och söka efter Adobe Stock härifrån.
Välj Arkiv > Nytt. Börja med att välja en förinställning i dialogrutan Nytt dokument. I förinställningen Utskrift visas t.ex. olika storlekar och dokumentalternativ som du kan ange för ett nytt dokument. I dialogrutan Nytt dokument kan du få åtkomst till kostnadsfria och ej kostnadsfria Adobe Stock-mallar som är en bra början för din design.

Spara ditt arbete

I denna lektion: Hur man sparar en fil och skillnaderna mellan Illustrator-molndokument och dokument som sparas i datorn
Välj Arkiv > Spara eller Arkiv > Spara som. I dialogrutan Spara på datorn eller som molndokument kan du välja mellan att Spara som molndokument eller Spara på datorn för att spara dokumentet lokalt i datorn.
Molndokument kan nås från vilken enhet som helst där du har installerat Illustrator, inklusive Illustrator på iPad. Molndokument sparas automatiskt medan du arbetar i dem. Det går snabbare att spara molndokument än på datorn – och du kan behålla olika versioner av ett molndokument på panelen Versionshistorik.
Obs: När du sparar i Illustrator-formatet (med filändelsen AI) eller som ett Illustrator-molndokument (med filändelsen AIC) bibehålls lager, text och andra redigerbara Illustrator-egenskaper. Det är bäst att spara dokumentet på datorn som ett Illustrator-dokument eller som ett molndokument medan du arbetar i det.

I dialogrutan Spara som ger du filen ett namn och väljer var du vill spara den. Se till att Adobe Illustrator är valt på menyn Format (macOS) eller Spara som filtyp (Windows). Klicka på Spara.
