I Illustrator kan du lägga till rasterbilder – som du kanske tar med mobilen – i dina projekt.
Välj Arkiv > Montera för att montera en bild i dokumentet. Om du väljer alternativet Länka i dialogrutan Montera skapas en länk till originalbilden. Om bilden uppdateras utanför Illustrator kommer den att uppdateras automatiskt i Illustrator-dokumentet. Om du avmarkerar alternativet Länka när du monterar bilden bäddas den in i Illustrator-dokumentet.
Välj markeringsverktyget på verktygspanelen och skift-dra ett hörn för att ändra storlek på bilden. Släpp musknappen och sedan skifttangenten när du är klar.
Klicka på knappen Beskär bild på egenskapspanelen till höger i dokumentet för att beskära delar av en bild. Dra valfritt handtag runt bilden för att ta bort en del du inte vill ha kvar. Klicka på Verkställ i egenskapspanelen.

Vad du har lärt dig: om effekter
På menyn Effekt finns alla Illustrator- och Adobe Photoshop-effekterna. Illustrator-effekter är vektoreffekter. Photoshop-effekter är rastereffekter.
Klicka på Välj en effekt på panelen Egenskaper om du vill använda en effekt.
Du kan redigera en effekt genom att klicka på dess namn i egenskapspanelen för att öppna effektalternativen i en dialogruta.
Öppna panelen Utseende genom att välja Fönster > Utseende eller klicka på Fler alternativ i avsnittet Utseende på panelen Egenskaper. Panelen Utseende visar vad som är markerat i dokumentet och utseendeattributen som har tillämpats på verket. Om du tillfälligt vill dölja en effekt som har tillämpats på verket kan du klicka på ögonikonen till vänster om effektnamnet i panelen Utseende. Du kan redigera en effekt genom att klicka på dess namn på panelen Utseende.

Klicka på markeringsverktyget och på verket för att markera det.
Klicka på Välj en effekt på panelen Egenskaper om du vill använda en effekt. Välj på menyn Effekt ett alternativ som Effekt > Förvräng och omforma > Snörp ihop och bukta ut för att tillämpa effekten. Redigera effektalternativen i dialogrutan som visas och klicka på OK.
Du kan redigera en effekt genom att klicka på dess namn på panelen Utseende. (Öppna panelen Utseende genom att välja Fönster > Utseende eller klicka på Fler alternativ i avsnittet Utseende på panelen Egenskaper.)

Penslar tillämpas på vektorgrafikstreck i Illustrator.
Välj Fönster > Penslar för att öppna panelen Penslar, som innehåller standardpenslar och de penslar som har skapats i dokumentet.
Välj markeringsverktyget och klicka för att markera vektorverket. Klicka på en pensel på listan på panelen Penslar för att använda den.
Ändra linjebredden på panelen Egenskaper; penselstorleken ändras samtidigt.
Illustrator har ett antal penselbibliotek. Klicka på menyn Penselbibliotek längst ned på panelen Penslar för att välja ett penselbibliotek. Med biblioteket öppet som en panel kan du klicka för att applicera en pensel på valda verk.
