La lettrine, dont l'origine remonte aux textes religieux anciens, est une lettre beaucoup plus grande que le reste du texte, en début de paragraphe. Aujourd'hui, vous pouvez ajouter une lettrine à votre texte pour attirer l'attention et donner du style à votre page dans InDesign.
L'outil Texte étant activé, insérez un curseur n'importe où sur la première ligne. Dans la section Paragraphe du panneau Propriétés, cliquez sur le bouton Plus d'options (trois points). Saisissez un numéro au niveau du nombre de lignes des lettrines afin d'augmenter la hauteur de la lettrine. Choisissez la taille que vous voulez ; votre lettrine peut faire toute la hauteur du poème (neuf lignes).
2 Mise en évidence de votre lettrine
Dans la section Caractère du panneau Propriétés, modifiez l'aspect de la lettrine à l'aide des commandes de mise en forme du texte. Essayez de changer la police, le style et la couleur de fond.

3 Ajout d'une touche moderne
Sélectionnez votre lettrine avec l'outil Texte et choisissez Texte > Vectoriser pour appliquer des effets sans affecter le reste du texte. Sélectionnez la lettrine avec l'outil Sélection, puis localisez fx dans la section Aspect du panneau Propriétés et testez les effets. Nous avons appliqué une ombre portée aux contours nets, d'une couleur contrastée.
4 Ajout d'une marge entre la lettrine et le texte
Sélectionnez l'outil Texte, insérez votre curseur entre la lettrine et la lettre suivante et augmentez le crénage (espacement entre des lettres consécutives) dans la section Caractère.
Vous pouvez remplacer l'ombre portée par une illustration colorée pour remplir votre lettrine. Sélectionnez la lettrine à contour avec l'outil Sélection, puis choisissez Objet > Contenu > Graphique. Sélectionnez ensuite Fichier > Importer, et choisissez n'importe quel dessin vectoriel, motif ou photo pour embellir votre lettrine.
