What you’ll learn

Select your subject

Hover over your subject to preview the selection, then click to isolate it from the background. Use additional selection tools like Quick Selection, Selection Brush, and Refine Edge to expand or refine your matte for the level of control you need.

Apply your matte across all frames

Once your selection is dialled in on a single frame After Effects analyses the footage and applies your matte consistently frame by frame to lock it in.

Refine and apply creative adjustments

Fine-tune feathering, contrast, and edge settings in the Effect Controls panel. Duplicate your subject to create variations, like changing clothing color.
