TikTok might have started as a fun app for short videos, but over time, it has become a serious space for creators, businesses and personal brands. And if you’re aiming to boost your presence, one little icon carries a lot of weight: the blue verification tick.

But how do you actually get verified on TikTok? And what are the requirements for a TikTok verification? In this article, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about TikTok verification. From what the blue tick stands for, to how to get it, plus how Adobe Express can help you stay consistent with your TikTok content.

Let’s break it down.

How does TikTok verification work?

TikTok verification is more than just a blue little tick. TikTok verification confirms the identity of an account and assigns a verification badge to it. This badge serves as a public sign that the account is real – or rather authentic. Thanks to this badge or blue tick, users know they can trust the content that’s published by the verified account – and that it’s worth following. They can also be certain that the account belongs to the person, company or organisation it represents.

On the other hand, accounts with TikTok verification can distinguish themselves from fake accounts – which is becoming increasingly important in times of fake news. In other words, TikTok verification creates clarity and trust for accounts and users alike.

But even a blue tick is not a sure sign that the account is “real” – unless it’s correctly placed. To determine if an account is truly verified on TikTok, make sure the blue tick icon appears next to the TikTok user’s name in search results as well as on their profile. If an account displays this symbol elsewhere in their profile (e.g., in the bio), it’s not a verified account.

And even more importantly, verification badges can only be awarded by TikTok. You can’t buy them. And if you’re wondering if TikTok verification does provide any new features beyond those of a normal business or creator account: no, it doesn’t. But it still does make a difference because it gets you more attention.

Now you know what a TikTok verifications is and what purpose it serves. Time to take a look at the requirements an account must meet to get verified on TikTok.

Requirements for verification: How do I get a blue tick on TikTok?

To obtain TikTok verification, users must submit an application. The entire process is free of charge. And no worries: The number of followers or likes an account has doesn’t play a role in awarding a verification badge.

But before TikTok officially awards a verification badge, the platform considers a number of factors, such as whether the account is active, authentic, complete, notable and secure.

Let’s have a look on what that actually means:

  1. 1. Active

Your account must have registered with TikTok within the last 6 months, and ideally you should have been active on the platform regularly during that time. This does not mean that you have to post daily, but rather that you should maintain a regular rhythm. Plus, a consistent presence increases your chances of landing on the “For You” page, which helps to increase your visibility organically.

We know that being consistent sounds much easier than it actually is. But Adobe Express is here to help. Adobe Express offers many helpful templates that you can use to create trending TikTok videos or impressive TikTok animations. And that’s not all. With the free Adobe Express Content Scheduler for TikTok and the TikTok resizing tool, you have user-friendly tools that help you maintain a consistent schedule. You’ll learn more about the Content Scheduler later.

In addition to all of the above points, it’s also important that your accounts complies with the “Community Guidelines” and “Terms of Service” on TikTok. A verification badge doesn’t mean that TikTok endorses the account, and TikTok reserves the right to refuse or revoke verification of accounts if any artificial or inauthentic activity may be noticed.

Now that we have clarified the requirements for TikTok verification, we’ll show you the individual steps on how to get verified on TikTok.

How to request verification on TikTok step-by-step.

To request verification on TikTok is quite simple. But be patient, as there is no guarantee that you’ll be successful the first time, and you may need to request verification of your account repeatedly before you’re accepted.

Here’s how to request verification on TikTok:

  1. Open the TikTok app and tap “Profile” at the bottom.
  2. Then tap the Menu button at the top and select “Settings and privacy”.
  3. Click on “Account” > “Verification”.
  4. Tap “Start”. To submit a verification request, you must follow the next steps.

Please note: If you’re registered as a Business Account, you can only apply for a business verification. If you’re registered as a Personal Account, you’re able to apply for personal or institutional verification. And if you’re registered as a Government, Politician, or Political Party Account (GPPPA), you can only apply for institutional verification.

Also note that this request feature isn’t currently available everywhere. If you can’t submit a verification request in the app, you can submit a request through the TikTok online form instead.

Schedule TikTok posts in Adobe Express with the free content scheduler.

As we have learned, consistency is an important factor in getting verified on TikTok. You need to post regularly to show TikTok that you’re active. But as we all know, it can be difficult to post regularly, especially if you’re not a professional content creator.

But there’s no need to despair! With the right tools, you too can create TikTok content that stands out.

This is where Adobe Express and its free content scheduler for TikTok come in. It helps you to

  • plan your TikTok content in advance.
  • preview your posts in a calendar view.
  • pinpoint the best times to publish.
  • collaborate with teammates or clients.
  • share your content not only on TikTok but also across other social channels – all from a single platform.

Sounds good, but how exactly do you plan a post with the content scheduler? Here’s a simple way to integrate it into your routine:

  1. Open Adobe Express.
  2. Upload your video or design a new one using templates especially tailored for TikTok. If your video is not yet in the correct format, the TikTok resizing tool can help you with that too.
  3. Add your caption, hashtags, and links. With the Adobe Express brand kit, you make sure that all your posts are visually consistent, as you can upload your company fonts, logo, etc.
  4. Now choose the date and time you want the post to go live.
  5. Review your content calendar and adjust as needed.
  6. Hit “Schedule” and you’re good to go.

You can even schedule several weeks of content in one sitting. That frees up your time to focus on interacting with your audience and refining your TikTok content strategy.
