Hyatt Regency Tampa

Setting Hyatt Regency Tampa apart from the competition

Looking to stand out

A red-hot destination, Tampa Bay has thousands of hotel rooms and spacious facilities capable of accommodating groups of all sizes. Approximately 15 million visitors travel to Tampa Bay every year. Looking to differentiate itself from other hotels in the area, the Hyatt Regency Tampa sought a unique and creative solution that would enable it to sell its event and meeting facility services to current and potential clients. "The competition in the hospitality industry is fierce in Tampa Bay," says Jeff Silva, sales manager for Hyatt Regency Tampa. "We were looking for a way to separate ourselves from the rest of the pack that would show we are creative and progressive."

Video — the communication of choice

Having seen video sale presentations in the past, Silva knew it was as a great communication medium and that it would be the perfect tool for adding the customization, flare, and cutting-edge feel he wanted and knew his customers demanded. Noticing that Visual Communicator® software had all the features he would need, Silva knew that Visual Communicator was the perfect solution for creating customized sales videos for his clients. "After looking at the product demonstrations on the website, I immediately sent the Visual Communicator link to my boss, who was instantly impressed and bought it right way," says Silva. "With the Visual Communicator video element you get a visually rich environment that you just can't get with PowerPoint."

Creating cutting-edge videos that customers demand

After an hour of playing around with Visual Communicator, Silva created his first video. Silva and his eight other sales folks use Visual Communicator to create a variety of videos, including hotel commercials, monthly promotions, follow-up thank you and personal introduction messages, and even sales proposals. With Visual Communicator, Silva's clients can see his face, hear his voice, and are more drawn into what he is communicating. "In the hospitality industry, customer service is the name of the game, it is all about the relationship you build with a customer," says Silva. "It's our goal to meet our client's one on one, but that isn't always feasible. With Visual Communicator, we can put a face with the name and more effectively draw them into what we are selling."

In addition to his sales videos, Silva has also created internal communication pieces that have gone over well. Last year, Silva created a video to encourage the 350 staff members of his hotel to participate in the Walk to Cure Juvenile Diabetes. Silva was able to capture images off the Internet and plug them directly into Visual Communicator as well as add transitions, audio, and green-screen effects to create a compelling video that helped get 200 staff members, friends, and family out to walk. The benefits of Visual Communicator aren't just in the visually engaging appeal of the videos, says Silva. "It's the ease of use, the broadcast-quality videos, and the return on investment you get. Visual Communicator was created so that anyone can put together a video with ease — it's like having a broadcast television studio in your PC. It has already provided us a return on investment. For a product that cost about four hundred dollars, we have been able to capture about 650,00 dollars of business."
