Why translate PDF documents?

Not everyone you work with speaks English, meaning that sometimes you might have to translate your PDFs before you share them. But PDF documents are final form files, which makes them challenging to edit for translation purposes. There’s no automatic PDF translator, either.

Convert your PDF.

  1. Open your PDF in Acrobat.
  2. Go to the Tools menu and select Export PDF.
  3. Select your export format and click Export.

However, if you need to use something online, you can follow these instructions to translate a PDF file in Google Translate.

  1. Access the Translate Document tool.
  2. Choose the language you would like to translate from and to. If you’re not sure what language your PDF file is in, you can set the input language to “Detect language.”
  3. Click Choose File and then the blue Translate button.
  4. Google will then translate the text.
  5. You will get a pop-up with the PDF file translated.

Convert your document back to a PDF file.
