Frequently asked questions
The Adobe® LiveCycle® Data Services ES3 module enables you to be productive in creating high-performance, scalable rich Internet applications (RIAs). Review these frequently asked questions to get a better understanding of the product offering and options.
- What's the difference between Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES3 and BlazeDS?
-
LiveCycle Data Services ES3 is a commercially available enterprise-class data services product that integrates RIAs with LiveCycle services, J2EE applications, and business logic. It provides scalable server-side remoting and messaging along with powerful data management services and application modeling technology.
BlazeDS is an open source version of Adobe's server-side remoting and messaging technologies, previously only available commercially in LiveCycle Data Services ES. BlazeDS is suitable for applications that do not have requirements for high scalability or advanced capabilities, and for applications that are not business critical and do not require enterprise support and maintenance.
- Does the per-CPU pricing for LiveCycle Data Services ES3 pertain to a server or a processor?
- LiveCycle Data Services ES3 is licensed per CPU. We define a CPU as a single processor in a hardware device. Hardware devices include servers that can be accessed by multiple users through a network. A dual-core CPU is considered a single CPU for licensing purposes. For details, read Adobe's CPU licensing policy.
