LiveCycle Content Services ES2 Upgrade Center

Adobe® LiveCycle® Content Services ES2 contains several new features to help you share, manage, and retain content.

What are the new features in the LiveCycle Content Services ES2 release?
LiveCycle Content Services ES2 provides the following capabilities:
  • Empower business users to define ad-hoc content reviews: In conjunction with other LiveCycle ES2 modules — PDF Generator, Reader® Extensions, Rights Management, and Process Management — Content Services ES2 enables business users to manage ad-hoc content reviews that involve internal and external reviewers, without involving IT. Using an intuitive interface, users can publish the content that needs to be reviewed, set up the lists of reviewers for each review stage, and include deadlines and escalation guidelines. Once the process is kicked off, content is automatically converted to PDF, enabled for inline commenting, rights protected, and sent to the assigned reviewers. Process owners use a reporting dashboard for reviewing status on all submitted processes and can extend deadlines, terminate reviews, and invite new reviewers at any time to ensure smooth process completion.
  • Automate classification of submitted form data: Through easy configuration steps, content spaces can be set up to automatically extract the data in any forms that are submitted to them, enabling advanced searches and easier reuse of form data in any additional user interfaces you require in the future.
  • Improve search and audit capabilities: You can now create a shared review that is auditable to provide finer details in how documents are accessed as well as search documents to identify and locate protected documents for transparency in audits. You can also search for rights-managed content that is encrypted.
  • Increase performance: Better performance helps when searching on tags or content and for creating spaces from templates.
What are the key enhancements to LiveCycle Workbench ES2?
The LiveCycle Workbench ES2 integrated development environment (IDE) now includes these capabilities:
  • Take advantage of a single, unified authoring tool with versioning, check-in/checkout, and granular access controls for creating PDF forms, Output templates, form guides, business processes, and Java™ components.
  • Design easy-to-use Guides with a Guide Builder perspective that allows you to quickly create an Adobe Flash® technology–based application that guides the user through a typical data capture process such as an online form.
  • Streamline development by using a common data model that enables developers to write applications at a higher level, reducing the amount of code and simplifying data integration in the development of your application.
  • Dynamically create sophisticated document packages and interactive PDF Portfolios.
  • Simplify testing and deployment by previewing your business process, including testing form and Flex® user interfaces, and recording the process results.
What are the key enhancements to LiveCycle Foundation?
Key enhancements to LiveCycle Foundation include:
  • Reference real-time graphical server health statistics within the LiveCycle administration UI.
  • Work in maintenance mode to streamline and reduce operational costs from upgrades or system maintenance by suspending all asynchronous operations.
What are the additions to the platform matrix?
The platform matrix now includes:
  • IBM WebSphere 7.0
  • Oracle WebLogic 10gR3
  • JBoss EAP 4.3
What are the steps required to upgrade?
The LiveCycle upgrade is similar to any other upgrade of enterprise software. Adobe recommends you:
  • Upgrade and test a development environment
  • Upgrade and test a staging environment
  • Upgrade the production environment
The LiveCycle ES2 installation and configuration process provides an upgrade mode. If selected, your existing content will automatically be available in the new system.

If you don't have access to this e-mail or if you would like to learn more about the process, contact Adobe Customer Service.
