Why merge images into a PDF?
Combining images into one PDF can come in handy when you want to share a bulk of photos or images with various people. Whether it’s photos from a family holiday to Tenerife, or branded assets you’re sharing with coworkers, a single PDF is often easier to send than multiple images – especially over email.
For example, say you’ve been asked to share photos from a recent business event with your marketing team. You’ll usually find there’s a limit on file size and the number of attachments you can send via email. So, rather than sending multiple emails with separate image attachments, you can combine your JPEGs into one PDF file. Then attach and quickly share in one email, ready for the recipient to view, download or edit with ease.
How to combine JPEGs into one PDF.
It’s easy to convert and combine multiple JPG images into one PDF with Adobe. You can split the steps into two stages:
1. Convert your images into PDFs.
First things first, you’ll want to convert the different images into separate PDFs. You can do this using Adobe’s online PDF converter tool like so:
- Go to the JPG to PDF converter tool.
- Upload your JPG or JPEG file.
- Click to convert your images.
- Download the new PDF file.
Do this for each JPG you want to merge into one PDF. You can also follow the same process for other image file types, such as PNG files.
You can convert as many JPG images as you want and merge them into one PDF as discussed below.
2. Merge the PDF files to combine them.
After converting your images to a PDF, you can easily merge the multiple PDFs into one file.
- Head to Acrobat online.
- Upload the PDF files you want to merge.
- Reorder the files in your preferred order.
- Click to Merge files and download the final PDF.
The tool should have combined all the images into one PDF file, in the order you selected. Then you’re ready to share the file or view. The images will appear in the file in the order they were uploaded to the PDF editor.
Now that all your JPGs have been merged into one PDF, you’re free to send and view the file quickly and easily.
How to combine other files and images with Acrobat.
Aside from merging your images into one PDF file, you can also merge multiple file types into one PDF using Acrobat’s Combine Files tool. This includes a range of file types, from PowerPoint, Word and Excel documents to audio files, videos, web pages or existing PDFs.
You can preview and arrange the documents prior to creating the file. You can also delete any unwanted pages and reorder the content as needed.
Launch the Acrobat app and follow these steps:
- Go to Tools > Combine Files, and wait for the toolbar to appear.
- Drag your files into the interface or use the Add Files menu to select from a variety of sources.
- You can then choose to:
- Rearrange pages and files. Use the Thumbnail view to drag and drop each file or page where needed.
- Expand and move individual pages. Expand the thumbnail view to move individual pages within the files.
- Preview your content. Use the Zoom magnifying glass icon in Thumbnail view to get a preview of your documents.
- Delete pages. In the Thumbnail view, hover over the page and click the Delete trash icon.
- Sort files. Switch to the List view and click the column name that you want to sort by. This will then rearrange the page order in the combined PDF.
- Move files in the file list. Again, use the List view to select the file or files you want to move. Then click to Move Up or Move Down.
- Click Options, and select from three file sizes for the converted file:
- Smaller File Size. Shrinks larger images and compresses where needed. Best suited for on-screen displays, the internet, and sending via email.

- Larger File Size. Best suited for high-quality printing on desktop printers.
- Finalise your conversion settings in the Options tab, then click OK.
