Creators first.
Adobe is committed to developing {{generative-ai}} responsibly, with creators at the center. Our mission is to give creators every advantage — not just creatively, but practically. We are committed to working closely with our creative community to build technology that supports and improves the creative process.
Enhance the creative process.
The vision for {{adobe-firefly}} is to help people expand upon their natural creativity. As both a product and an embedded model inside Adobe apps, Firefly offers generative AI tools made specifically for creative needs, use cases, and workflows.
Give creators practical advantages.
Firefly is designed to be safe for commercial use. The current Firefly generative AI models were trained on a dataset of licensed content, such as {{adobe-stock}}, and public domain content where copyright has expired. To ensure that creators can benefit from {{generative-ai}}, we’ve developed a compensation model for {{adobe-stock}} contributors whose content is used in the dataset to retrain Firefly models.
Set the standard for responsibility.
We believe that generative AI can be developed responsibly, starting with respect for creators’ rights. We founded the Content Authenticity Initiative and the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity to stand up for accountability, responsibility, and transparency in digital content.

What is {{adobe-firefly}}?
The vision for Adobe Firefly is to help people expand upon their natural creativity. As both a standalone website and a technology that powers features inside Adobe apps, Firefly offers generative AI tools made specifically for creative needs, use cases, and workflows.
What is generative AI?
What is Adobe doing to ensure our AI image generation tools are developed and deployed responsibly?
As part of our work to design Firefly to be commercially safe, we trained our first Firefly model on licensed images from Adobe Stock and public domain content where copyright has expired.
We perform internal testing on our generative AI models to mitigate against any harmful biases or stereotypes. We also provide feedback mechanisms so users can report potentially biased outputs and we can remediate any concerns.
In addition, Adobe is committed to building trust and transparency into digital content with Content Credentials. Content Credentials function as a digital "nutrition label" that can show important information about how and when content was created and modified, including whether and how AI was used. Adobe automatically attaches Content Credentials to images created in Firefly to show that they were AI generated. This level of transparency gives creators a way to authenticate their content and helps consumers make informed decisions about content they see online.
This is the mission behind cross-industry coalition the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). The CAI was co-founded by Adobe in 2019 and now counts more than 3,300 members including tech companies, news organizations, NGOs, academia and more. The CAI works alongside the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) industry standards organization, which developed the technical specification for provenance technology used in Content Credentials.

As Firefly evolves, Adobe is exploring ways for creators to be able to train the machine learning model with their own assets so they can generate content that matches their unique style, branding, and design language without the influence of other creators’ content. Adobe will continue to listen to and work with the creative community to address future developments to the Firefly training models.
