Q: What is the online certification program for Adobe Captivate?
The Adobe Certified Professional: Adobe Captivate certification program is now available online. Participants can now access the course and get certified remotely. They can also enjoy the flexibility of scheduling the assessment test on any date of their choosing.

Q: How is the online certification different from the face-to-face onsite workshops?
The online certification program consists of the same pre-work online video-based curriculum and assessment test. However, the online certification does not include the one-day, onsite workshop which is included in the face-to-face training, where an instructor provides a recap of the online curriculum followed by a mandatory assessment at the end of the program day.

Q: Am I certified in the 2019 release of Adobe Captivate? If yes, how do I get recertified in the all-new Adobe Captivate (released in 2023)?
In general, the Adobe Certified Professional program does not attach a product version number to the certification. Once you get certified in Adobe Captivate, your certification is valid for 2 years. After 2 years, you are required to take the exam once again to keep your certified status active. This system ensures that you remain certified on the latest version of the product.

However, since Adobe Captivate 2019 release is now Adobe Captivate Classic and we have come up with a completely the all-new Adobe Captivate , the training & certification of this new version is totally different. You may choose to get recertified in the new version immediately or later (after your certification status expires). If you have registered for this program in the past, you have the following options:

If you have not yet taken the exam:

• You can choose to take the new exam now.

If you have already taken the exam:

• If you registered before April 1, 2021, you can retake the exam by paying $99.
• If you registered on or after April 1, 2021, you can get free access to the certification exam. To request for complimentary access to curriculum and certification exam, please fill out this form.

Q: I got certified in Adobe Captivate Classic (released in 2019). Can I get free or discounted access to the new version curriculum and exam?
If you registered for the Adobe Certified Professional - Adobe Captivate program on or after April 1, 2021, you will get:

Q: I failed the Adobe Captivate Certification exam and I want to retake it. Can I retake the exam for Adobe Captivate Classic (released in 2019)? What is the price for retaking the exam?
The exam for Adobe Captivate Classic will be discontinued from April 12, 2024. You can get free access to the new curriculum by emailing us at ACPCaptivate@carahsoft.com. Prepare for the new version’s certification exam. Pay $99 and take the new exam.

Q: My certification status is invalid (2 years are over). I want to get recertified on Adobe Captivate. What should I do? What is the price of recertification?
You are required to retake the exam to keep your certified status active. It costs US $99 to retake the exam. However, we have some offers you might want to check.

• If you got certified before April 1, 2021, you can get free access to the online curriculum, but you have to retake the exam by paying $99.
• If you got certified on or after April 1, 2021, you can get free access to the online curriculum and certification exam.

Q: Can we get access only to the online curriculum without certification exam or the 2-day virtual training?
Yes. The standard price for online curriculum is $199. However, currently we are offering the curriculum for free. Additionally, you can get access to the online curriculum of Adobe Captivate Classic (the older version) for free as well. Please write to ACPCaptivate@Carahsoft.com to get access.

Q: Is the assessment an open book exam?
Yes. ACP : Adobe Captivate program’s certification assessment is an open book exam. You may feel free to access any study material, notes, books, online material etc. during the exam.

Q: What is the exam duration? Is there any sample assessment test that I can use to practice?
The total exam duration is 90 minutes. We don’t have a sample test yet, but we will try to get one created soon.

Q: What is a provisional pass?
A provisional pass is given when a candidate achieves a passing score after completing their Adobe exam. Before a pass status is awarded, Adobe performs industry standard statistical analyses on all exams to ensure compliance.

Q: When will I receive my final score?
A candidate with a “pass” status will receive their final score status within 78 hours after completing the exam. You will receive your score by email or by going to the Adobe Digital Experience Certification Program portal.
Note: You must have an Adobe ID to access the Adobe Digital Experience Certification Program portal.

Q: What happens if I fail?
If a candidate fails on their first attempt to pass the ACP: Adobe Captivate exam, the candidate must wait at least 24 hours before retaking the exam. Failure to pass an exam on their second or any subsequent attempts requires a waiting period of 14 calendar days before retaking the exam. Each attempt will incur a separate exam fee ($99).

Q: What happens if my score is invalidated?
A candidate with a passing score that has been revoked must wait 30 days before retaking the exam.

Q: If I pass, can I retake the exam?
If you pass the Adobe Certified Professional : Adobe Captivate examination, you are required to wait twelve calendar months before retaking the same examination, unless Adobe changes the test objectives for the examination. Additionally, after the release of a new version of Adobe Captivate, we upgrade the certification curriculum. You may retake the exam any time after our curriculum is updated post launch.

Q: How do I prepare for my exam?
At this moment there are 2 ways of preparing for the exam :
1. Certification only : Self-study of the pre-work online curriculum (5 hours of video tutorials + practice exercises. It can take a total of 15-20 hours if you practice all the steps)
2. Virtual training + Certification: Complete self-study of pre-work online curriculum and enroll for 2-day virtual instructor-led training. Get hands-on experience on Adobe Captivate.
3. Please note, the certification examination for Adobe Captivate is an open book examination. Therefore, you may prepare notes and keep other online or offline study materials/resources ready with you during the exam.

Additionally, once you register for the exam, you will receive the exam scheduling guide and voucher code, via email.

Q: Does attending training help with certification, compared to “Certification only” program?
Attending training/workshop gives you hands-on experience on Adobe Captivate. The training sessions are led by an instructor chosen by Adobe, who gives you a recap of the online curriculum and helps you prepare for the assessment exam. However, live workshops are not prerequisites for the certification exam.

Q: How do I pay for an exam?
You can pay for a certification exam with a credit card, or through your PayPal account, or request an invoice by contacting ACPCaptivate@carahsoft.com.

Q: If I don't pass an exam, can I get a refund?
We do not offer refunds for failed exams.

Q: What is the cost to retake an ACP: Adobe Captivate exam?
It costs $99 USD to retake an ACP: Adobe Captivate exam. You can register here for retaking the exam.

Q: How long is the Adobe Captivate certification valid?
All Adobe certifications beginning July 1, 2019, will now expire after two years and require renewal. More information on Adobe Recertification program click here.

Q: How do I find out what I missed on my exam?
Adobe does not disclose exam answers. Adobe strives to maintain the highest standards to protect the integrity of the certifications you earn.

Q: What can I do if I have a grievance with an exam question?
Adobe is focused on the integrity of the ACP certifications and ensuring the accreditations remain meaningful. If you have a grievance with a question, send a description of the question and your complaint to ACPCaptivate@carahsoft.com.

Q: What do I receive upon certifying?
You will receive an e-certificate. Additionally, a badge with Adobe Certified Professional logo will be emailed to you. Please note that the e-certificate will not be emailed to you, but you can download it from your Adobe Digital Experience Certification Program portal account. Q: Are the exams available in languages other than English?
Currently the ACP: Adobe Captivate exam is available only in English. We are trying to make the online curriculum available with subtitles/captions in other languages.

Q: What is virtual training? Is it live or recorded?

The virtual training program offering involves live virtual instructor-led training. Here an instructor will provide a complete review of the online curriculum, giving you hands-on experience of Adobe Captivate. The instructor will also answer your questions live. This helps you prepare better for the assessment.

Q: What is the duration of virtual training?
The virtual training is held for:

• North America : 2 consecutive days. Each day, 8 hours with multiple breaks. Actual training adds up to 6 hours/day (12 hours in 2 days)
• Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific: 3 consecutive days. Each day, 5 hours with multiple breaks. Actual training adds up to 4 hours/day (12 hours in 3 days)

Usually these trainings will be scheduled either once or twice a month. The available training slots can be booked during registration.

Q: What is virtual instructor-led training? How is it different from live workshops in different cities?
In 2020, we introduced a virtual training in the Adobe Certified Professional : Adobe Captivate certification program, in addition to the pre-pandemic face-to-face training workshops in different cities. The face-to-face workshops are 1-day instructor-led sessions followed by the assessment exam on the same day. The virtual instructor-led training sessions are for 2 or 3 days, which enable you to:

• Enjoy the convenience of remote access to live training. Just like in face-to-face classroom trainings, an instructor will provide a complete review of the online curriculum, giving you hands-on experience of Adobe Captivate. This helps you prepare better for the assessment.
• Have the flexibility to schedule the assessment exam online, on a date of your convenience.

*Please note that our website currently does not mention the classroom face-to-face training offering since we had temporarily paused it owing to the pandemic. We will inform once the face-to-face classes are resumed.

Q: Can we get Adobe Captivate training without writing an exam?
Yes, you can. You may register for the “Virtual training only” offering which consists of the 2 or 3-day virtual instructor-led training, but doesn’t include the exam. Get access to the pre-work online curriculum. You can study the online curriculum yourself and then attend the virtual training for hands-on experience on Adobe Captivate. You can choose to not take the assessment test for certification.

Q: What are the hardware and software requirements of the certification or live training sessions?

Q: Is the value of certification online vs. live workshops same?
The online curriculum and assessment test are the same for all the offerings under Adobe Certified Professional: Adobe Captivate. Therefore, the value of certification is the same. However, the table below gives full details of the comparison of the offerings:

Q: How does Adobe determine the passing score for an exam?
Adobe determines the passing score for each exam through a well-established industry process. This process involves subject matter experts defining the minimum competence levels required to pass the exam and rating the difficulty level of all exam questions. Adobe uses this subject matter expert feedback and the data from their rating to determine the passing score for each exam. Beginning in January 2020, Adobe exams will display the percentage score achieved by candidates. The passing percentage and scaled scoring of each exam is listed in the exam guides under exam information.

Q: What is a scaled score?
A scaled score is a sequence of standardized numbers to which all possible raw scores for an exam are mapped. Adobe uses a scale (that is, a sequence of numbers) from 300 to 700 when reporting your exam score. The raw passing score for each Adobe exam is mapped to the scaled score of 550. Therefore, the passing scaled score for all Adobe exams is 550. All other possible raw scores, from zero to the total number of questions on an exam, are mapped to whole numbers between 300 and 700 on the scale.

Q: How is my test score determined?
Your test score is determined by taking the total number of questions answered correctly (called your raw score) and dividing that number by the total number of scored questions.

Q: What is the passing score for Adobe Certified Professional: Adobe Captivate exam?
The passing score for Adobe Certified Professional: Adobe Captivate is 75%.

Q: Can I use my scaled score to determine what percent of the test questions I got correct?
Dividing your scaled score by 700 will not provide you with the percentage of questions you got correct in the exam.

Q: Why are my past exam records displaying a different score?
Prior to 2020, Adobe used the scaled score format; a sequence of gradated numbers to which all possible raw scores are mapped. Adobe used a scale of 300 to 700, and mapped an exam's passing score to the 550 mark. In 2020, Adobe started reporting the exam's actual percentage score and stopped using the scaled score format.
