Learn how to use our graphic layers system to apply decals, logos, and patterns to 3D objects in Dimension.

Introduction
In this video, we will add graphics and decals to our models.
In Dimension, you add graphics on top of your materials.
Applying graphics and decals to materials
To do so, double click the object that you want to target.
In the properties panel, go to the material tab and select the material.
Click on the file icon and simply add your graphic.
You can also drag and drop it straight onto the object.
By default, the graphic will be in decal mode.
Transforming and positioning decals on models
Move it by holding the anchor in the middle.
Rotate it using the round handle, and resize it using the square handles, holding shift to keep it uniform.
Once you’re satisfied with the placement, you can adjust the image’s parameters
Adjusting decal properties and using external assets
such as the opacity, the roughness and the metallic.
Dimension supports Illustrator and Photoshop format, allowing for quick iteration .
You can create artboards in Illustrator, then select your image in Dimension by clicking on the thumbnail icon and test them in real time.
Using fill mode and optimizing UVs and resolution
If you want your image to fill the whole surface, switch to fill mode.
This mode will spread the graphic across the UV space, so make sure your UVs are suited for that.
Adjust the tiling and the placement of the image until you get a satisfying result.
You can also export your UVs and use them as a template for your graphic.
Vector images get rasterized when imported into Dimension, so make sure to use high resolution images to get the best results with your graphics.
Also keep in mind that your graphic’s resolution is dependent on your material resolution.
