Introduction
Ever wish there was a simple way of linking and updating your documents from your favorite Adobe apps directly in Firefly Boards?
Well, in this video I'll show you how.
Hi everyone, my name is Angelo Montilla, and today I'll walk you through how to link documents to Firefly Boards, make changes in Photoshop, Illustrator and Fresco, and sync docs in real-time to keep your creative flow moving.
Let's jump in and learn more!
Add linked assets to your board
To add a document to Firefly Boards from the Toolbar menu, click on the Add image icon.
Here, I'll choose to upload the document from Adobe cloud storage.
However, you also have the option to upload from your own device.
I'll choose the Magazine Cover document and click Add to add it to my Board.
I'll click on the Board to drop it in and once it's been uploaded, you'll see a Link icon in the upper left-hand corner of the document, as well as the app icon it was created in.
Make edits in connected apps
In the Contextual menu bar above, I'll choose Open in Photoshop.
This will open the layered PSD in Photoshop where I can make any edits.
In this specific example, I can replace the cover image and swap the Masthead with a later version.
I'll press Cmd S to save, that's Ctrl S on Windows and hop back to Firefly Boards.
Sync updates instantly
In the Contextual menu bar, click the Update button and watch as the magazine cover syncs to the latest version in real-time.
To unlink a document from a Board, simply click the Unlink icon in the Contextual menu bar.
This means if you make any further changes to the original Photoshop file, the updates will not ripple through to the asset on your Board.
You can also use Illustrator assets in a similar seamless creative flow.
This will work whether you're in the desktop app or Illustrator on the web, as I'm using here.
I have a poster for a music festival, and I'd like to edit the graphic to match the color theme of the poster.
First, I'll delete this version of the graphic and place the updated version from my computer.
I can do that by clicking Place from the left side menu and choosing the .ai doc with the new graphic.
I'll click Open to place it on the poster.
And now I can reposition the graphic and resize it until I'm happy with the design.
And because this is a cloud doc, it'll auto save for you.
Now I can hop over to Firefly Boards, select the asset on the board, and click Update in the Contextual menu bar to update the doc.
You can even update linked assets from Adobe Fresco.
For example, I want to add color to the artwork in this mascot character and change the font in the project.
I'll make those changes in Fresco and save the document.
When I hop over to Firefly Boards, you'll see that I can update the link and the changes are made in real-time.
Final comments
And that's how simple it is to link and update your projects in Firefly Boards without breaking your workflow.
Try it out for yourself for a faster, smarter way to keep everything connected.
Again, my name is Angelo Montilla, and I'll see you in the next video.
