[Julianne Kost] Hi and welcome.
My name is Julieanne Kost, and in the next few minutes we're going to take a look at the Lightroom interface so that we can familiarize ourselves with the tools as well as the modular workflow.
So here I'm starting in the library module, and as we work through our images, we'll be moving from one module to the next.
But in the library module, you'll notice that on the left and on the right-hand side, there are panels, and in these panels we can do things like see if our folders have images; we can rearrange images; we can create collections of images in order to synchronize with Lightroom mobile.
We can even make quick changes to values like color values or tonal values and add things like keywords as well as metadata.
Basically, we're going to use the library module to organize and select our best images.
You'll also notice at the bottom of this preview area here, we have got a toolbar.
This is going to help us to view our images in different ways as well as sort our images.
And of course, this can all be customized.
There's lots of other icons and tools that we can add to this toolbar.
Down below that is the film strip.
The great thing about the film strip is that once I start importing images, this film strip is persistent, so as I move through the modules, I'll always be able to select the images that I want without necessarily having to return back to the library module.
So once we select our images, we would then go to the develop module.
This is where we make all of the corrections or enhancements to our images.
And once we're done here, of course we could always export our images directly as jpg files to share with clients, or we could continue working with them in programs like Photoshop.
So we could add multiple layers; we could add text, all sorts of things.
Or if we're finished, we could view our images on a map.
We could go to the book module to create a book.
We could create a slideshow, print our images, or create web galleries.
For now, I'll just return to the library module and point out that of course we have additional options here using the menus across the top.
And there are a lot of times when you don't even need to use menu because you can simply right mouse click on any item to gain additional options.
So there you have it, a quick tour of the Lightroom interface.
My name is Julieanne Kost.
Thanks for watching.
