What you’ll learn
Convert a PDF into an editable InDesign document
Use File, Open PDF, or drag the PDF directly into InDesign to create a new editable document. Text becomes fully editable, and linked graphics appear in the Links panel.
Check what converts cleanly and what needs fixing
InDesign can recover color swatches, paragraph and character styles, tables, and automatic numbering. Some elements, like a QR code, convert as flat images and need to be replaced by hand.
Compare, save, and package the finished file
Check the converted document against the original PDF for differences in line breaks, text flow, and image placement. Save the file as InDesign, then use File, Package to gather it with all linked assets for handoff.
