Adobe supports a strong network of ecosystem partners that have solutions comparable to Flash Media Encoding Server. Rhozet's Carbon product line, as well as other partner solutions such as those from Sorenson Media, Digital Rapids, Grab, Inlet, and Telestream, have developed strong support for Flash technology, lessening the need for an Adobe branded product. What is Flash Media Encoding Server?
Adobe Flash Media Encoding Server software provides a fast and scalable solution for preparing content from a vast range of formats for delivery. Whether delivery is through the ubiquitous Adobe Flash Player runtime, Adobe Flash Lite™ software for mobile applications, or the Adobe AIR® desktop player, Flash Media Encoding Server is an intuitive, automated, and customizable server solution. Adobe brought the OEM product to market through a partnership with Rhozet, a subsidiary of Harmonic.
How is Flash Media Encoding Server different from Rhozet's Carbon products?
Flash Media Encoding Server and Rhozet's products differ on the input and output formats supported. Rhozet's Carbon product line supports a broader range of outputs; Flash Media Encoding Server supports only output types compatible with Flash technology but also adds VP6 decode.
Will Rhozet's products support VP6 decode?

There are a number of partners in our partner ecosystem that offer products with similar functionality to Flash Media Encoding Server. Flash Media Encoding Server is an OEM version of Rhozet's Carbon Server product, so for most customers that will be a great alternative. Will Adobe Media Encoder be a suitable replacement for Flash Media Encoding Server?
Adobe Media Encoder is targeted at desktop encoding. For customers with lower volume transcoding needs, Adobe Media Encoder may provide a solution. For customers with larger scale encoding requirements or who need to integrate encoding into an automated workflow, one of our partners solutions may be a better match.
