Solution: Restart your computer in Safe Boot mode, install the QuickTime 7.1.1 update, and then restart in normal mode.

1. Restart the Macintosh and hold down the Shift key immediately after you hear the chimes.

2. Release the Shift key when the Apple logo appears. When the Macintosh is in Safe Boot mode, the words "Safe Boot" appear on the logo.

3. From the Apple menu, select Software Updates.

4. Select the QuickTime 7.1.1 update and click Install. You can also download and install the update from the Apple website at .

5. Restart your computer in normal mode.

Note: Version Cue is not supported on Intel-based Macintosh computers, and the Version Cue icon in the top right corner of your menu bar appears crossed out.

Background information

Adobe Version Cue CS2 is installed in the Mac OS Startup Items folder and loads when your Mac OS starts up. The QuickTime 7.1 update causes the computer to freeze when loading certain startup items; the QuickTime 7.1.1 update resolves the issue.
