Introduction and meet Dave Clayton
[Dave Clayton]: You know, when you're working in an InDesign project and you want to make a quick image edit, but you don't want to break your flow or leave your document?
I'm Dave Clayton, and I'm going to show you how easy that is with the new Edit with Express feature in InDesign.
We've got this music flyer here, and two images I want to include.
One needs the background removed and converted to black and white; on the other we'll add a simple duotone effect.
Let's start with the first image.
Make image edits from inside InDesign
Select it, then from the Contextual Task Bar, or from the Edit menu, click Edit with Express.
This opens the Express panel.
This feature is in beta while I'm recording this tutorial, but it will be available in the latest version by the time you watch this.
From here, we'll choose Remove Background and let that do its magic, and then we'll drop the Saturation to black and white.
Apply and replace in one step
Click Apply, and then either click Replace Original - and this edits the original file - or you can also Save as New Image to make a new copy and place that instead.
We'll replace the original for speed.
Now for the second image, select that, and choose Edit with Express again.
This time click on Effects, and we'll add a blue purple duotone to the image.
Click Apply, and Replace Original.
Now we can drop them into place and we're done.
And that's it.
Two quick edits done right inside InDesign without ever having to leave the document, thanks to Edit with Express in Adobe InDesign.
