Create a typographic logo in Adobe Illustrator.

See how Farm Design uses shapes and type to create a logo with a unique expression.

1 Soften the edges.

Click the rectangle with the Selection tool. Drag one of the inner points to round the corners into an oval shape.

2 Frame the text.

With the shape still selected, choose Object > Path > Offset Path. Set the Offset value to create an inner oval. Then choose the Rectangle tool, and drag it to draw a rectangle around the words in the design.

3 Clean up the view.

Drag across the inner oval and the rectangle with the Selection tool. Then choose the Shape Builder tool and use Alt+click (Windows) or Option+click (macOS) to remove unwanted line segments.

Pro tip: The Shape Builder tool allows you to create complex shapes by merging and erasing simpler shapes.

4 Shape your message.

Choose the Type tool and click on the leftmost part of the path. Double-click the Type tool to set the alignment. Use the Character and Paragraph panels to choose a font — we activated Manofa from Adobe Fonts — and fine-tune your layout.

5 Reverse the trend.

Add a new message to the bottom of the design, starting from the opposite direction. Double-click the Type on a Path tool to set the alignment, and flip the type for better readability. Finish your design by dragging the flower artwork into the logo.
