When you distribute documents publicly, you need to be sure you're not sharing sensitive information. The redaction tools in Adobe® Acrobat® X Pro software let you permanently delete confidential data like customer names, product release dates, or wholesale pricing from PDF files. Sanitization tools also let you remove hidden content.

It's easy to clean up PDF files for public distribution. Just highlight private data like phone numbers or email addresses — or have Acrobat X Pro search for specific content types — and then click to apply redactions. You can also redact illustrations, entire pages, or page ranges. Acrobat X Pro permanently removes the selected information, blacking it out in the file or redacting it in a custom manner you define.
A single click on the Sanitize Document tool instructs Acrobat X Pro to find and delete all hidden data in a PDF, including hidden text, metadata, annotations, attachments, layers, and bookmarks. Alternatively, you can specify the information types you want to remove.
Avoid potential problems by having everyone use guided Actions in Acrobat X Pro to ensure consistent application of redaction policies before documents go public.
