Summary

Adobe has released security updates for Photoshop Camera Raw version 7.2 and earlier 7.x versions for Creative Suite 6, and version 6.7 and earlier 6.x versions for Creative Suite 5.  These updates address vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker, who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities, to run malicious code on the affected system. 

Adobe recommends users of Photoshop Camera Raw update using the instructions provided in the "Solution" section below. 

Affected software versions

Photoshop Camera Raw version 7.2 and earlier for Creative Suite 6, and Photoshop Camera Raw version 6.7 and earlier for Creative Suite 5. 

Note: The issue only affects the Photoshop Camera Raw plugin within the Adobe Bridge CS5, CS5.5 and CS6 client.

Solution

Adobe recommends Photoshop Camera Raw customers using version 7.2 and earlier versions for CS6 should update the Photoshop Camera Raw plugin through the update mechanism available in the Adobe Bridge CS6 client.  To update the plugin, choose Updates from the Help menu, and then follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the latest version of the Camera Raw plug-in.  Enterprise customers who do not have administrator privileges or an internet connection can find the plugin download here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html#notconnected.

Photoshop Camera Raw customers using version 6.7 and earlier for CS5 can download the Macintosh update here and the Windows update here.

Adobe has released security updates for Photoshop Camera Raw version 7.2 and earlier 7.x versions for Creative Suite 6, and version 6.7 and earlier 6.x versions for Creative Suite 5.  These updates address vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker, who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities, to run malicious code on the affected system. This update resolves a buffer underflow vulnerability that could lead to code execution (CVE-2012-5679).
