Summary

Important vulnerabilities have been identified in RoboHelp 8, RoboHelp 7, RoboHelp Server 8 and RoboHelp Server 7. A specially crafted URL could be used to create a cross-site scripting attack on RoboHelp installations. Adobe recommends users update their product installation using the instructions provided below.

Solution

Adobe recommends users update their RoboHelp and/or RoboHelp Server installations by applying the relevant updates using the instructions below:

Download APSB10_23_1.zip. This .zip file contains two files:
1.    wf_status.htm
2.    wf_topicfs.htm
 
To apply the update to your RoboHelp or RoboHelp Server installation, follow the steps below:

  1. Extract the files from the APSB10_23_1.zip folder to a temporary location.
  2. Back up the files "wf_status.htm" and "wf_topicfs.htm" from the "<Installation Directory>/RoboHTML/WildFireExt/TemplateStock" folder.
  3. Replace the files "wf_status.htm" and "wf_topicfs.htm" in the "<Installation Directory>/RoboHTML/WildFireExt/TemplateStock" folder with the updated "wf_status.htm" and "wf_topicfs.htm" files from the zip.
  4. Regenerate flashhelp output.

Additionally, customers who utilize RoboHelp for Word to generate WebHelp/FlashHelp should also apply the following update:

Download APSB10_23_2.zip. This .zip file contains two folders:
1.         WebHelp5Ext
2.         WildFireExt

To apply the update, follow the steps below:

  1. Back up the file "whcsh_home.htm" from the "<RHW Install Dir>/RoboHELP/WebHelp5Ext/template_csh" folder.
  2. Replace the file "whcsh_home.htm" in the "<RHW Install Dir>/RoboHELP/WebHelp5Ext/template_csh" folder with the updated "whcsh_home.htm" file extracted from the .zip file.
  3. Back up the files "whstart.js" and "whutils.js" from the "<RHW Install Dir>/RoboHELP/WebHelp5Ext/template_stock" folder.
  4. Replace the files "whstart.js" and "whutils.js" in the "<RHW Install Dir>/RoboHELP/WebHelp5Ext/template_stock" folder with the updated "whstart.js" and "whutils.js" files extracted from the .zip file.
  5. Back up the files "wf_startpage.js" and "whutils.js" from the "<RHW Install Dir>/RoboHELP/WildFireExt/template_stock" folder.
  6. Replace the files "wf_startpage.js" and "whutils.js" in the "<RHW Install Dir>/RoboHELP/WildFireExt/template_stock" folder with the updated files "wf_startpage.js" and "whutils.js" files extracted from the .zip file.
  7. Regenerate RoboHelp for Word output, and publish to the HTTP Server.

Adobe categorizes this as an important update and recommends that users apply the latest update for their product installation by following the instructions in the "Solution" section above.

This update resolves a cross-site scripting vulnerability that impacts customers who utilize RoboHelp for Word to generate WebHelp (CVE-2010-2885)

This update resolves multiple cross-site scripting vulnerabilities (CVE-2010-2886).
