Table of dimensions of paper sizes in the A range in mm, cm and in.

Since 1975, paper belonging to the A series has been standardised according to ISO 216 which was created to conserve the proportions between the width and height of these formats. This correlation was first described by German scientist Georg Christoph Lichtenberg in 1786. It wasn’t until 1922 that the aspect ratio √2 was taken up by Walter Porstmann and the German DIN 476.

  • A10 = ¼ of A8

  • A10 = ½ of A9

When it comes to measuring size A10 paper in pixels, it depends on the resolution used for your file.

For a resolution of:

  • 300 dpi, you will have 307 x 437 pixels per inch.

  • 200 dpi, you will have 206 x 291 pixels per inch.

  • 72 dpi, that will give you 74 x 105 pixels per inch.

Resolution is an essential component in graphic design and printing. The more pixels per inch there are, the more detail there is in your final image.

When using a small surface like that of an A10 piece of paper, it is important to choose a primary element to stand out, such as a logo or an icon. A small format like A10 isn’t a good choice for larger, more detailed designs.

Simple, attention-grabbing logos and images make up part of our everyday life. They’re easy to interpret and they immediately and effectively communicate their main message to the world.

Whether it’s for digital use or a printed campaign, it’s important to keep things simple. This will help to create a coherent visual identity whether that be on an A0 poster or for the personalisation of a small icon in A10. In a small format like this, software like InDesign is a real asset for the creation of graphic designs that will do justice to your project.
