Agreeing on team values is always a good idea. Use a vision board to lay out the values you all agree upon and then choose images that illustrate these ideals. Work out how these shared values can help the team collaborate together and build a work culture to achieve success in their work goals.
Set up the major milestones for your team, project or workstream across the board from beginning to end. Under each one list the tasks you need to complete to move to the next phase. Get the team together every week to discuss progress towards the main goal.
Making a vision board with others at your workplace can help you move towards a work culture you all want to embrace. Make notes about the current situation on one side and the ideal workplace vision on the other. Then, plot out ideas that will help you move from the current to future state.
When you step into a new leadership role, ask a mentor to make a vision board with you. List the values you want to live up to and think about how this can be achieved. Set goals and ask your mentor to help you work out a plan.
Recognition has many different meanings in the workplace. Some people think a good salary is all the recognition they need while others look for more informal reinforcement and encouragement. Collect images and quotes about the value of work and pair them with symbols of recognition that can be shared with the team.
A work anniversary is an excellent time to review achievements and future goals. Ask each of your team to do this exercise alone and share their vision board with the group. Ask them to articulate what they want to achieve before their next work anniversary and source ideas from team members to help them meet those goals.
Work together with your team to identify areas for improvement and write these up on a workplace vision board. Next, make a list of exercises and group activities you can do together for a team offsite event to help the team bond and grow.
This is one for individuals to make for themselves. Start this board with a gap analysis. Write up the skills or qualifications you want to attain, your current status and your plan of action. Revisit and update it often as you work through your educational plan and take pride in your achievements.
Successful teams do more than work together; they cheer each other onto success. If your group takes part in activities outside work, such as playing sport or doing volunteer work, recognise that effort by creating a vision board for each out-of-hours team. Let them share what they want to achieve and take note of successful efforts along the way.
This one is a little different from others. It’s more about tracking progress than achieving a vision. Use the vision board to monitor changes in mood or circumstances that may have had an impact on the team’s work. Set a goal at the beginning of the month and update the board each day by tracking progress towards the goal. Make a note about how everyone is feeling as well. See if you can identify patterns at the end of the period.
